Just a little background on us, and how we got to be where we are now.  I'm Teri, hubby is Don - also known as "Mr. DIY".  Don handles the "mechanical" side of the tank, does all the setup, DIY, plumbing, etc.  I do all the research, and deal with the "inside" of the tank.  We make a pretty good team.

When I met Don in 1989, he had a saltwater tank.  Love at first sight!  We've kept several saltwater fish-only and reef tanks together; the current 180g is our 7th or 8th tank (I can never remember exactly).  Most of our tanks have been mixed soft coral/LPS tanks.  Our last reef tank was a 75g, initially set up in January of 1999 - this tank was up and running until everything was moved to the 180g.

We knew from the beginning, that the only way we'd be able to afford a tank of this size was DIY, DIY, DIY.  Fortunately, Don is very "handy", and we have a wood shop in our basement.  We decided to make our own cabinet, hood, sump, skimmer, etc. etc.  The sump is in the basement (the tank is on the first floor of the house in the livingroom), and Don also DIY'ed all the plumbing.

Enough on us.  You can check out the (Tank Design & Equipment) page to find out a little more about the tank setup.
