Information

Venus Acres is a community located about 6.5 miles west of US 27 off CR 731,at Earnhardt Drive, in Highlands County, Florida. Centrally located, it is a short drive from both east and west coasts.It is rural, the roads are shell rock (graded weekly by the county), and you can hear cows, see horses, and live with agricultural zoning, and few restrictions. All but one street (Andretti Rd. )has curbside trash pickup, and there are streetlights. There are swales (culverts) which keeps the area high and mostly all dry. Very few low lying wetlands areas. The school busses pick up children in the subdivision. Manufactured homes of many sizes dot the one acre parcels, with some site built ones. The 200 lots are about 1/3 gay- owned, and that is changing fast as word gets out. There is an all-male Gay Campground about 2 miles to the east of here where a social time can be had for camping or day pass visits. If you are looking for a place where your neighbors will stop by for coffee and watch your place, this is it. There are many weekenders as well as permanent residents. No Association dues. The electric service is from Glades Electric. Well / Septic , no city water/sewer in Venus Acres. You pay taxes on your home as real property after set up.
