Benjamin Hopkins
of Cincinnati
Benjamin Hopkins was the fourth son of Ebenezer Hopkins, Jr. and Ann Albertson. After his marriage to Rebecca Ward in 1794, they remained in Haddonfield for eleven years, and seven of their children were born there. In 1805 they migrated to Ohio, settling first in Waynesville, then moving to Cincinnati. Benjamin was one of those who helped establish the first meeting house in Waynesville in 1808, and was one of the trustees for the note. He was also listed among the founding members of the Cincinnati meeting. Benjamin was a house carpenter by trade (equivalent to today's general contractor), and was also a trustee of the poor in Cincinnati. They lived at number 114 on the north side of 5th Street between Race and Vine in Cincinnati.

Benjamin died of cholera in the epidemic that swept Cincinnati in 1832. His daughter Mary Cresson died of cholera the same day, and daughter Ann died the following year.

Only three of Benjamin's children married. Lydia Roach Hopkins married Samuel Jacobs in 1834. Benjamin, Jr. married Rachel A. ---- in 1830, and Sarah married Waldo (or Wendell) Wright in 1833.
