The Glass Cage

This Glass Cage was originally a completely CG short film, inspired by Fight Club and Snatch, that I was planning on making it during my free time but it ended up just being a montage peace. The same rigging was applied in Boxer project but the model, texture, and hair were enhanced. One of the hardest places to set up were the shoulders and back, since those parts of the body would move in a very complex way between the two extreme poses. Both arms move down then up.Once the shoulders started working right, the rest went pretty smooth.

This project as a learning exercise in Messiah, a Lightwave plug-in designed for advanced character animation. This project quickly became an extensive study in human anatomy. I first roto animated the CG character using a reference from a film. The challenges became apparent when I began texturing the character. I first tried using scans of myself to create texture maps. Human skin is very complex though, and changes constantly depending on the environment. Just scanning and pasting the texture wasn't completely effective, a lot of extra work and attention to detail were required.
