In December '99, while attempting to locate the street that one of my golfing buddies lives
on, I became very frustrated trying to read the street names on the LMOA map available
to me. My wife and I went to several real estate companies, who advertise maps of
the lake, and found that their maps were the same as what we already had. We checked
with other agencies on the lake and could not find a better map. We then decided
to redo the map.
We
scanned the map into our computer and using the existing road layouts, we relettered
the entire map. The sections were given color shading to allow one to locate a section
at a glance. We rode around the lake and looked at road signs and changed the map
names to agree to the actual signs. We received inputs from several of our friends.
The result is what you see above. The main road around the lake, Jefferson Drive,
is shown in red.
One
word of caution: This map has been reduced in size from 48.6 MBytes to less than
40 KBytes. Downloading this map will not produce an acceptable copy. A high resolution colored map has been printed and is being sold by the Lake Monticello Computer User Group as a fund raiser. Since we compiled this map from other maps and informational sources, we cannot guaranteee the absolute accuracy of the map.
