James River Batteau Festival



On June 18th, we traveled to Scottsville, Va., to witness the James River Batteau Festival. The festival consisted of a craft show, live musicians and the batteaus on the James River. The batteau in the photo below was on display at the craft fair. Click on the photo to see more photos. We also took a photo of the levee completed in 1985. In the 1960's, the James River crested at ~30 feet, causing much damage in the town.

President Bush visited Monticello on July 4th, 2008, to welcome newly naturalized American citizens. Click on the picture below to see some photos from the ceremony. The quality of the photos are not very good, since they were taken from a video of the ceremony.
