Wetlands
vegetation is returning to the Jeep tracks of "Barking Dog Road".
Our
wetland is rich in biological diversity.
It is directly in the path of an alleged R.S. 2477 "public highway".
This
segment of Balarat Creek is within the alleged right of way.
Off-road
recreationists want to open up this area to "rock crawling".
After
four years of protection, columbines are returning to parts of our
property
where several years of motorized use had stripped away the native
vegetation.

"Boslough
states 'The streamside wildflowers, grasses . . . . are
growing back that were crushed under the off-roaders tires'. The
trail is one-vehicle wide and has been a rocky road for over 100 years.
There is a steep bank (about 40 degrees and 30-50 feet long) down to
the creek on the east side and a steep uphill bank on the west side.
There are no go-arounds. The trail is so hard and rocky it prevents any
thing from growing in it. Again, this is another creation of Boslough's
imagination."
