Cabin Electrical Panel2/15/05 Cabin electrical. This is behind the middle bottom door of the cabinet. I can set my laptop on the pullout slide and plug in behind it.

Cabin Cabinet2/13/05 Galley skins. It would have been a lot easier to do this if I had put the skin on before the bulkhead (hint, hint...). Next time, I'll skin the galley before I install the bulkhead.

Galloey Cabinet Frames2/27/05 Galley cabinet frames sitting in place. Here's where I departed from the Kuffle Creek design. I've never been able to get sliding cabinet doors to work well, so I'll be using swinging cabinets and drawers on the top cabinet.
Update: I should have used the sliding doors. You have to move everything off the counter to open the cabinets.

Galley Cabinets
2/20/05 Galley cabinet frames with doors. Lots of urethane to finish (sigh). This part of the project sure is taking a lot longer than I thought it would.

Galley Cabinets and Doors3/3/05 Another test fit. Now to add the cabinet hardware and install the frames in the galley. I'll have a big drawer making party later. You might have noticed that the cabinet frame is different from what is shown in the picture above. I forgot the stove slider and had to tear the lower frame apart and add it. Another oops.

Galley Electrical Panel
3/6/05 Here's the fuse panel. I'll skin over the framing and add an access panel to get to the fuses. This will be a chase for wiring access. Outlets, meters and fans will be located in the framing. You can also see some cabinet hardware and framing for the drawers. I used window sash locks for cabinet pulls.

Fuse Panel
Here's a closeup of the fuse panel. The strip across the top of the fuse panel is a shunt resistor. I'll be using it to measure current flow from the battery.

Galley Electrical Devices3/13/05 Electrical stuff installed behind the skinned  frame over the wire chase. I still need to finish the door over the fuses. This was the hardest thing yet to build and I'm glad its finished.

Entire Galley Test Fit3/13/05 Here's the galley with the counter and sink in place for a test fit. The stupid sink isn't square but I guess I'm probably the only one who'll notice. Update: the sink went in square. I don't know what I changed but here we are)

Half Blind Dovetails3/19/05 Here's the drawer making party. This is slow, persnickity work. I hope they come out square and the right size. I'm using 1/2" baltic birch plywood for the drawers.  Its great stuff; light, strong, routes well and  is much more stable than solid stock.

Completed Drawers3/21/05 All the drawers and the pullout for the stove. I used regular slides for the drawers instead of the full length slide I used for the stove pullout. The regular slides are much easier to align. The full length slides pretty much need to be perfectly aligned to work properly.

Complete Galley3/26/05 Finally, all the drawers are built and installed.  I used 3/4" maple for the drawer fronts. Best of all, they all fit. It took awhile to get all the sliders aligned. I had to use shims to get some of the fronts flush with the cabinet frames. It only took me about 3 months to get to this point.

Open Drawers
4/2/06 Its been a long time but I'll have plenty of storage. Now I just need to apply the finish to the drawer faces and the counter. More urethane (sigh).
