Finishing Touches

Footwell
2/23/06 Here's my AV center. The DVD player stows behind  the open door and the tray slides back into the cabinet. All the DC plugs and switches are in the back of the opening.  The DVD player will play MP3 files as well so we can play music in addition to watching movies. The screen is about the right height to watch while laying down. I would install it lower if I could put it anywhere else.

Footwell2/23/06 I put two speakers behind our heads. I don't have surround sound yet but I will someday and the speakers will be ready to go. Jean made the quilt just for the trailer so its the right size for two people without hanging out the doors. I finally got around to applying the finish to the interior.  I wish I had done it before we slept in it as the moisture in our breath raised the grain of the paneling, I had to sand everything doen again to finish it.

Footwell2/23/06 Here's a lower shot showing the front speakers and the amplifier. The footwell gives the bass a boost so the speakers  sound bigger then they are.

Cabin Electrical Panel2/23/06 This is where everything plugs in and where the DVD player rides. The switches are for the fans and the audio amp. There's also a CATV connector that's wired to a plug on the side of the trailer for campgrounds that have cable. The meter shows voltage, time and inside/outside temperature. The backlight of the meter makes a nice nightlight. It gets pretty dark at night inside. The whole panel comes off for access to the wiring behind it.

Small Shelf2/26/06 Small Shelf at the front of the cabin. Good for keys, wallet, glasses, remote, etc. There's one on the other wall too. I had used a hook but decided a shelf would be handier. You can see where I filled in the holes next to the door frame.

New AV Partial3/3/06  Added a new preamplifier and TV tuner.  Its looking a little grim here...

New AV3/3/06 The grey thing is panduit. Its used to train wires and really cleans up the mess.

New LED Lights3/4/06 Revised hatch lighting. LEDs instead of fluorescent.

New LED Lights3/5/06 Water outlet for the sink. The original plastic one stripped when I hooked up the grey water hose. This one is made out of brass so hopefully it won't strip. I soldered a 3/4" hose barb to 3/4" male hose adapter to a piece of brass. I should have used thicker brass for the plate but this will work.

Galley Charger3/11/06 Galley electrical showing my battery charger. I put it here so it wouldn't be in the same box as the battery and get corroded by battery gases.  The fire extinguisher is a must have for an all wood trailer.

Solar Panel 33/18/06  New 85W solar panel. I made the rack out of aluminum. Here's its set in the winter position. There's a summer and spring/fall position as well. I looked up what angle it should be at during the season here. Its setup for Denver which is at a lattitude of 40 degrees

Solar Pabel 23/11/06  Here's the panel on the roof. Its in the travel position.

Solar Panel 13/18/06  Side view of the panel. It looks like the trailer has a hat.

Graphic4/30/06 New vinyl graphics. Not sure if I'll keep it yet or not.

RV Satellite Dish Setup5/8/06 New satellite dish. I had a dish leftover from when the roof was replaced and decided to use it. I found the DIY mount here. Information on how to aim the dish can be found here. Information on how to get a mobile receiver added to your account can be found here. I bought the receiver off of ebay. I have Dish Network but it works the same for Direct TV.

Petcool5/28/06  Air conditioning!  I'm using a Petcool dog house air conditioning. I ducted in through the window so I don't cut holes in the trailer for an A/C that isn't large enough. The Petcool is only 2000 btu as opposed to 5000 btu for the smallest window shaker type. So far it works great in the garage. We'll see how it works out in the sun on a hot day. My 1000W Kipor generator will run the unit. More tests to follow.

Petcool5/28/06 Here's a detail of the insert for the window. I used 3" RV sewer hose and connections for the ducting.

RV Satellite Dish Setup8/5/2006  Misty keeping the riff-raff away at the IRG at  Pamplin Grove, CA.
