2005 Roatan

baracudaNovember 26-December 3, 2005

The Resort: Anthony Key's Resort, Roatan, Honduras.
This was the 2nd stay for Ben. We were not impressed by the place. Everything was nice including accommodation, pool, bars and boats. You have a choice with dinner and waiter serves you, but food was too salty in general.  They have horseback riding, kayaks, and dolphin shows besides the diving.

Focus of the trip: Diving and relaxing

Dive Sites: All around the island of Roatan, Bay Islands

Water Temperature: 81 F (27 C)

We saw lots of coral bleached. The instructor told us that this is the seasonal phenomenon. Ocean felt empty without many fish. We could not tell it this was the effect of the hurricane or the fish population was declining. Our dive master fed fish therefore some groupers and barracudas were too friendly for our liking. We visited our favorite sites: Mary's Place and the wreck Aguila. Sea horses at Mary's place were gone, but the swim through is gorgeous, and the wreck still had a big green moray eel.
