The Resort: Laguna Beach Resort,
Utila, Honduras.
This was the 2nd trip staying this resort for
Ben and I. We love the place. Their bungalows are clean and
comfortable, buffet style meals are good and plenty. No host bar worked
fine with us. Talking to the hosts is always fun, and we believe Wagner
is the
best captain in Utila. With 3 boat-dives a day, drop off dives, and
night dives I did 21 dives total.
Focus of the trip: Swimming
with Whale sharks
Dive Sites: All around the
island of Utila, Bay Islands
Water Temperature: 81-84 F
(27-29 C)
Spring
months in Utila are the season to swim with the young whale sharks. On
this trip we had 4 whale sharks sighting. Each time we were dropped off
the boat and snorkeled with them. In one occasion the shark was so busy
feeding that we were on top of him. It was so much fun. We also had an
opportunity to dive with dolphins. Besides the normal Caribbean
reef fish, we saw sea horses, flying gunards, reef squids and octopus,
nudibranchs, and cryptic crabs.
