The following information is based on the checklist "How Your Child Hears and Talks" from AHSA's consumer pamphlet (also available online). It provides a general guideline about what most English-speaking children are doing at the different stages. If your child is exposed to English and Chinese, he may seem to be slower in achieving some of the benchmarks listed on the "talk" side of the checklist. However, that doe not necessarily mean he has a language impairment. See Children and Bilingualism page for some of the developmental stages commonly observed in bilingual children.
