Supported Functions

BlueTunes has many functions, however they are not supported by all applications. Because of this, I have made a list of all available functions for each media player plus any special notes. Supported by all media players Play / Pause Previous / Next Track Volume Control Bass Control Wiimote LEDs On / Off Minimize all Windows Turn Off PC Mouse Control - more info notes:  - Volume control : While changing the volume, the Wiimote LEDs will indicate the volume level for a few seconds.  - Turn Off PC : After pressing for 3 seconds, the Wiimote will briefly vibrate and the PC will turn off. Can not be assigned to the 'B' button.  - Wiimote LEDs On / Off : I have experienced a few cases where the LEDs stopped working for no apparent reason. Pressing this button a few times will fix the issue.  - Why minimize all windows? We have a wallpaper cycler and at times my wife wanted to see her wallpaper screenshots when using BlueTunes.   - Mouse Controls : Very useful if you have a computer connected to your tv and watch videos. There are three ways to manipulate the mouse pointer - either by pressing the Wiimote buttons, by pointing the Wiimote at the screen, or by tilting the Wiimote. Go here for more details. iTunes Rewind / Fast Forward Shuffle Display Visualizer Display Current Playing Track Information Jump Forward / Backward Add To Playlist notes:  - Play / Pause : The Wiimote LEDs will change their display pattern when in a paused state.  - Add to Playlist : If you like the track that is currently playing, press this button and it will be added to a playlist named "BlueTunes Favorites". My wife listens in shuffle mode often and will use this feature to make a "Best Of" playlist. Winamp Shuffle Display Visualizer Display Current Playing Track Information Jump Forward / Backward notes:  - Display Track Info : In order for this to work, make sure you have the "Advanced Title Formatting" set to the default setting. Go to Options/Preferences/General Preferences/Titles. Napster Shuffle Windows Media Player Rewind / Fast Forward Shuffle Display Visualizer notes:  - Works with video too. VLC Rewind / Fast Forward Display Visualizer notes:  - Works with video too. Quintessential Player Shuffle Display Visualizer Display Current Playing Track Information Jump Forward / Backward notes:  - Display Track Info : In order for this to work, make sure you have the "Taskbar Icon Text" set to the default setting. Go to Preferences/Settings/Display and at the bottom of the page is "Format of taskbar icon text". Make sure it is "QCD: [1 00:00] artist / title" or "QCD: [1 00:00] artist / title / album" or "artist / title / album". Also, make sure there is a space on either side of the "/" symbol. Media Player Classic Rewind / Fast Forward notes:  - Works with video too.  - MPC does not come with an installer. Because of this, BlueTunes can not determine where the main executable is located and will not automatically load when selected. You will need to run MPC yourself. Foobar2000 Shuffle Display Current Playing Track Information notes:  - Display Track Info : In order for this to work, make sure you have the "Title Formatting" set to the default settings. Go to File/Preferences/Display/Title Formatting and make sure this string is in the "Main Window Title" field - "[%artist% - ]['['%album%[ CD%discnumber%][ #%tracknumber%]']' ]%title%". Do not include the quotes. Yahoo! Music Jukebox Shuffle Display Visualizer Display Current Playing Track Information MusikCube Shuffle Display Current Playing Track Information MediaMonkey Display Visualizer Apollo Shuffle Display Visualizer Display Current Playing Track Information notes:  - Display Track Info : In order for this to work, make sure you have the "Track Title" and "Window Title" set to the default settings. Go to Miscellaneous Menu/Options/Strings and make sure this string is in the "Track Title" field - "%LEADARTIST% - %TITLE%". And this in the "Window Title" field - "%num% %title% - %time% - (%dur% @ %bitrate% kb/s)". Do not include the quotes. BS.Player Rewind / Fast Forward Jump Forward / Backward notes:  - Works with video too. Songbird (beta v0.3) Shuffle notes:  - Currently this works with the beta version of Songbird v0.3  - When the version changes, BlueTunes might not be able to locate the path to Songbird.exe. If this happens, just manually load Songbird. GOM Player Play / Pause / Stop Shuffle Rewind / Fast Forward 10 second Jump Forward / Backward notes:  - Works with video.  - Pause / Play / Stop : Press briefly to toggle between Play / Pause. Press and hold a while to Stop.  - REW / FF : Every press of the button is equivalent to pressing REW / FF 10 times. For instance, pressing FF once will go from 1.0x to 2.0x. Also, pressing Pause will always reset the play speed back to normal. So if you are in FF 4.0x mode, quickly pressing Pause then Play will reset the play speed back to normal.  Creative MediaSource Shuffle   COWON jetAudio Shuffle Display Visualizer Rewind / Fast Forward notes:  - For some reason if no music is currently playing, pressing play on the wiimote will not start the music. Start the music manually, then play/pause will work from the wiimote.   - Rewind/Fast Forward : In order for this to work, make sure you have the Rewind and Fast Forward Hot Keys enabled and set to the default settings. Go to Preferences/General/Hot Keys and make sure Rewind is set to Ctrl+Shift+B and Fast Forward is set to Ctrl+Shift+F.
