to various organizations that promote our Scottish
heritage.
St. Andrews
societies were initially organizations to aid indigent
Scottish immigrant families. Today they have evolved
into social clubs. They hold social dinners around
Scottish holidays, and have annual meetings.
Scholarships are often raised to promote the learning
such things as piping, harping, dancing and the Gaelic.
A new link
is to the Scottish Heritage Society. The organization is
working to develop the first cultural center and museum
in North America devoted to Scotland. Make sure to visit
their site.
