Ford Genealogy Club September 13, 2001 Meeting

The beginner's session was begun at 5:00 PM. There were six prospective new members in attendance who were assisted by members.

Corey Wurtzbacher, a member of Church of Jesus Christ of the Latter Day Saints, addressed the group concerning the church's practice of baptizing members and ancestors. He assured us that registering your pedigree with the church does not mean that they are going to baptize your ancestors in their church. This is strictly a practice for their members to apply to their own family members. Baptism does not make anyone a member of their church.

The regular meeting was called to order by Karen Krugman at 5:50 PM. She announced that there are 2 seminars coming up shortly. A seminar on "Researching, Writing and Publishing Your Genealogy History" will be held in Kalakska, Mi on November 3, 2001. On October 18th "Inkwells on the Internet" will be held in Troy, Mi. For details on either seminar, please look in the newsletter.

The Christmas meeting was discussed and Diane Oslund will investigate a location for the dinner.

There are 3 major changes which have taken place:

There were no officer reports.

A request was made for anyone with access to a color printer to assist in the publication of the newsletter 4 times a year. The copies which were done for first, second and third quarter of 2001 were done on Diane Oslund's printer. There was a motion, which was seconded and voted on, to reimburse Diane for the cost of a new color cartridge. However we need a better process for future newsletters.

The meeting ended with a roundtable including introductions of prospective members and the latest discoveries of existing members.

The meeting was adjourned at 7:40 PM with an informal invitation to join in for dinner at a local restaurant.
