Subj: Clarification of Coast Guard ICS Training for Auxiliary -005/07

1.  ALCOAST 106/07 of 27 Feb 07 (CLARIFICATION OF COAST GUARD
INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM TRAINING REQUIREMENTS) was recently issued on this
subject for all elements of the Coast Guard workforce.  Regarding the
Auxiliary program, paragraph 2C indicated:

"All members of the Auxiliary are recommended to complete ICS-100
and IS-700, and those at the Division Captain level or higher are strongly
encouraged to also complete ICS-200 and IS-800."

2.  The optional nature of ICS training for Auxiliarists that is
portrayed by this provision runs contrary to Auxiliary ICS training guidance
recently issued in ALAUX 002/07 and ALAUX 003/07 (e.g. - ICS training
requirements for Auxiliary operators, staff member, elected officers).

3.  We have subsequently reviewed all of this with Auxiliary
National leadership and the Coast Guard Office of Incident Management
Preparedness (CG-3RPP).  The ICS training requirements in ALCOAST 106/07 are
minimum requirements that can be broadened as deemed necessary by commands,
and in the case of the Auxiliary, by CG-3PCX.

4.  Accordingly, and in concurrence with CG-3RPP, this ALAUX serves
to advise that Auxiliary ICS training requirements shall still be guided by
requirements set forth in ALAUX 002/07 and ALAUX 003/07.

      5. The purpose of this list is to keep Auxiliarists as well as all
other interested parties abreast of current developments, policies, manuals,
etc. All information contained herein and linked is OFFICIAL policy and
information.
