Brenda Starr, Little Girl Reporter, 1994 This is the first really lengthy scene Sonny and Brenda have. Their chemistry is obvious! Scene:
Kelly's Diner. Brenda Barrett and Karen Wexler were discussing who
could have killed Ray Conway
Brenda: (brings Sonny a cup of coffee) Black, no sugar, right? Sonny: Good memory, Brenda. Brenda: Well I make a special effort, Sonny, for some people. Sonny: Oh yeah? Why's that? Brenda: You're interesting. Sonny: Your friend didn't
think so (referring to Karen). She left here like I had the
plague. Brenda: Who says we're friends? Sonny: You two had your heads together like a couple of Siamese Twins. Brenda: Ah, I was just being friendly. Sonny: So how's your new digs? Last time I saw you, you were moving out of here. Brenda: Right, uh, they're really good actually, thanks for asking. How's yours? Sonny: (sullen) Not so great. Brenda: I, uh, sorry about what happened at your club. Sonny: What's going on here Brenda? Brenda: (laughs nervously) Nothing. Sonny: Aren't you worried about what Ruby might think? Brenda: Well you're not
worried about coming in here, Sonny: I'm not on too many Christmas lists this year. Brenda: (laughs again)
Yeah, well, I'm not getting many Christmas cards myself, Sonny: (smiles) Right, right. Brenda: Look Sonny, I guess you're...you're too smart for me. I did have something I wanted to ask you about. Sonny: Oh yeah? Why me? Brenda:Well because you know everything about everyone in Port Charles, right. Sonny: (looks up at the ceiling, and then back to her) That would be nice. Brenda:I mean everyone who counts. Sonny: Who you interested in? Brenda: Uh, that guy that got wasted...Ray Conway. Sonny: He was a jerk. Brenda: I thought he worked for you? Sonny: Now why would you think that? Brenda: Uh...I don't know. Sonny: Huh? No as a matter of fact, he had a permanent invitation to stay out of the Paradise Lounge. Brenda: See now I thought
you would have been ticked off over him being killed...but I guess
uh... Sonny: I couldn't care less. Brenda: Maybe you're even happy about it. Sonny: Where you
heading with this little rap here? It's interesting, but I got an
appointment soon. Brenda: No wait, listen.
It's just that the police only have one suspect in this... Sonny: Doesn't surprise me. The guy's a troublemaker. He'll be in trouble till his dying day. Brenda: Yeah, uh maybe...maybe not. Sonny: You know something I don't? Brenda: I know Jagger didn't kill anybody. Sonny: And how do you know that? Brenda: Because I...look, I really know Jagger. Sonny: Who do you think did it? Not that I care. (Brenda raises her eyebrows and nodes at Sonny) Sonny: Oh I see what you're getting at you little devil. You think it was me that whacked him Brenda: Did you? And then you set him up for it? (Sonny leans back in his chair, with his palms pressed together in front of his mouth) Sonny: You gotta
lot of starch coming over here and putting the screws to me. Brenda: (nervous) Why don't you just tell me the truth? Sonny: Who are you? Brenda Starr, Little Girl Reporter? (licks his lips like the big bad wolf) Brenda: Look Sonny, you haven't answered my question yet. Did you set Jagger up? (Sonny gives her an adorable grin as the scene fades to black) |
