Eleventh Hour has been
playing together for many years and in many different forms, here are some of the
highlights!
First a little history . . .
Dennis Murphy, Jerry Martini, Art
Mahanna and Craig Chenicek started playing together at the end of 1989. We really
didn't play out very often, mostly small private parties - but had a regular practice
night that gave us a good excuse to get together weekly for a beer. We very
officially named "Metropolis" and "The Edge" for these years.
Jerry was then replaced by Bob Oskorp
on Electric Guitar and Michael Couglin was added to take on the Lead Vocal
responsibility. Things really started happening for us at this point. We
selected the name "Eleventh Hour" and probably played 2 or 3 real public shows
(at most) a year! Needless to stay Michael got bored and moved to New York to pursue
serious music performance and Bob moved with his wife to Australia to pursue a different
career opportunity.
In 1992, Kevin Tenbrunsel was picked
to replace the former Lead Vocalist and Jerry Martini came back to fill the role that he
previously held on Lead Guitar. We added a few more shows under our belt (at least a
total of 3 or 4 per year) and decided that things had to change if anyone would really
want to hear our music.
In 1994 Neal Scott took over the
percussion responsibility and Kerri Tenbrunsel was selected to accompany Kevin on Lead
Vocals. Oh how things do change! We played our first official show with the
newly staffed "Eleventh Hour" that winter and people actually came in mass to
experience the show. Word spread about us with the local booking agents and we were
finally legitimate.
After 7 years of good times, Kerri and
Kevin decided to start a family and were blessed with a baby girl in November of
2001. Obviously wanting to spend as much time as possible with the new addition,
they regretfully hung up their microphones and moved on with their real lives.
At about that same time Susan Boppre
took up the challenge of lead vocalist and Art Mahanna came back after being away for over
10 years to provide backing vocals, rhythm guitar and electronic drums. Finally,
John Durudder was also added to play Saxophone to round out the sound.
In May of 2003 Susan decided to get
married and leave behind her rock and roll life. We were very fortunate that Kathy
Sullivan, formally of the band Sister Envy, was interested in joining the group. She
quickly took the lead role and has been taking us to new heights with her unbelievable
performances.
Finally, at the beginning of 2004, Kathy was transferred to warn
sunny Florida and we were lucky enough to get Kerri Tenbrunsel back as our front
person.
We have been playing together as Kerri, Jerry, Craig, Dennis, Neal,
and John ever
since!
