Bella Lugano. Bonita Lugano. Lugano is a lakefront town in the Italian part of Switzerland. In crossing the Alps on the way to Lugano, I instantly saw and felt the Italian influence on this part of Switzerland. In fact, it would easy to think you were in northern Italy if you were to wake up in this town.

     Lugano is a beautiful Italian Swiss town located on a beautiful lake. The town has numerous plazas connected by arcades. The buildings have a definite Italian feel. The food is defiantly Italian food. The highlight of the town is the beautiful lake. Shade trees line the beautiful path from the town to San Salvatore making for a delightful stroll. You can take a lift up to the top of San Salvatore for a delightful view of the lake and the surrounding country side. On a clear day, you can see as far as Milan. I enjoyed this town so much that I decided a sortie into Italy, which I was tempted to make, was not necessary because Lugano filled my need for an Italian fix. On any trip to Switzerland, I highly recommend coming down to Lugano (or on a trip to Italy, make a quick trip up to Lugano.)
