The Friends of Coronado State Monument sponsor a variety of activities for members and also for those who are interested in the historical events and archeological sites in the New Mexico.

 Lecture series

May 22, 2008 (Thursday) 7:00pm:  Dr Brad Vierra will discuss his excavations that led to finding the only archeological evidence to date documenting the Coronado expedition’s wintering over in this region.   The presentation will be held on the Monument Visitor Center Portal.  Free to members of Friends of Coronado State Monument, $5.00 for non-members.  Contact:  Gordon Forbes, 771-3464

Friends Events

Planting Opportunity  April 30, 2008 (Wednesday) 9:00am  Volunteers needed to help plant tradition pueblo crops in the pebble gardens at the Monument.  Visitors can see these grow during the spring and summer.   The crops are harvested in the fall. 

Wine and Cheese Party May 2, 2008 (Friday) 6:00pm (Members Only), Wines from several local wineries will be featured.  Guitar entertainment, raffle tickets for Taos drum, RSVP to Linda Vogel 821-8432

Christmas at Kuaua December 12, 2008 (Friday) 6:00pm:  The annual Christmas at Kuaua event will be held at the Coronado State Monument.  Details to follow.   Open to the general public.

Continuing Activity

Sun Father Gift Shop:  Like to talk to people?  Friendly volunteers are needed to help man our Gift Shop at Coronado State Monument.  No experience necessary, just a smile.  Call Linda Vogel 821-8432 if you would be interested.  No definite schedule or amount of time is necessary, whatever you can give.  Give it a try and let's continue to make some money in support of Coronado State Monument.
