Changing codes

Your garage door opener "learns" new transmitter codes by momentarily pressing
the "learn" button on the back of the opener head near the control wiring panel and
sensitivity dials. Most new transmitters are actually transceivers that negotiate a new rolling code every time they are used to keep "key catchers" from stealing your code. I will however refer to them simply as transmitters.

If your car was stolen or if you inadvertently "learned" a neighbors code you will have to first erase all codes. This is accomplished by holding in the learn button for 15 seconds. verify the erasure by pressing your transmitter key. Nothing should happen.

You can now now press the "learn" button momentarily and the LED next to the push button will illuminate and stay on for 30 seconds. If you press a key on one of your remaining transmitters during this time period the opener will flash it's lights on and off to signify it has captured the code. You must repeat this step for each one of your transmitters. if you press the transmitter key a second time the door should operate. The opener can learn at least 8 transmitter codes and 1 outdoor keypad code. The out door wireless keypad works the same except that you can eliminate previous code simply by learning a new one as it will write over the previous value.

HomeLink built in transmitters can learn both rolling code and older transmitters
but not the new 315 mhz (black button) transmitters recently released to address interference problems with new high power military radios. To "clone" your transmitter code into Home Link press and hold the Home Link button while also holding the transmitter nearby and holding down one of its keys. it can take as long as 60 seconds, first the home link will start blinking slowly but continue holding keys until it starts to blink fast. your transmitter should still operate the door and the home link needs to be programmed into opener. Go into garage and press learn button momentarily, You have 30 seconds to go out to car and press the home link button you cloned in previous step, you may have to hold the button in a bit for the code to take.

Setting Safety Thresholds

The "Up Force", "Down Force" dials are recessed next to the lean button and require a small straight slot to adjust. Turning the Down dial too far CCW (counter clock wise) will cause the door to reverse, It thinks it is crushing someone. Turning the Up dial too far CCW will cause the door to stop, It thinks it is hanging someone. You may have to pass the set point slightly to allow for changes in temperature and icing.

Aligning Motion Sensors
Proper alignment of the doorway safety LED sender receiver pair is a common mistake. marginal initial alignment can mean that just the track movement in a normal down cycle can cause a momentary "break" and your door will go back up, lights will flash. to align units first determine the sender from receiver. putting your hand in front of receiver will cause receiver light to go out. adjust sender first by eye and then go to receiver. cup your hand over light, loosen butterfly nut and adjust alignment for max intensity.
