Well this was Durham's first show! It went fairly well, started with a hectic morning trying to find him in the field. It took me 45 minutes to find him b/c he had been turned out in a different pasture. So with lots of acreage, darkness, and no clue where to look I only found him because when I started yelling for him he whinnied and I followed the sound of his whinnies!!
Anyway, made it to the show and quickly (b/c I was LATE from the pasture hunt!) went in to the ring where he really was nervous and unsure of everything going on. He was pretty resistant to move forward and did not want to trot, so this counted against him for scoring. Other than that he did well, with compliments for conformation, so the "show anxiety" we certainly can work on! Also, he was the youngest there without a mama by his side. All the other colts in his class trotted along their moms and Durham was flying solo. So despite all that he was very good, he did not do anything stupid and kept his wits about him the whole day. What a trooper!
Enjoy the pics (and thank you to my cool Uncle Ed for driving from PA to
help take them!!)
