Not all of their artists...not The Beatles (at least as a group)...but for many artists.
In almost every case, two or more catalog titles
for each of the selected artists were
chosen to leave EMD's distribution and become
available from AEC. EMI still maintained
manufacturing rights. New stock #'s were created,
but not much else was changed on
the product. So, AEC got two Alex Bugnon titles,
two O'Jays, ect. The two Linda Ronstadt
titles that went into AEC distribution were Stone
Poneys III and Heart Like A Wheel.
By the end of 1997, AEC was in financial trouble
and was no longer distributing any of
the EMD titles. It took many years for this to
get sorted out. Hundreds of titles were left
in limbo. Eventually the ones that EMD had enough
demand for were picked up again,
but many of the less popular ones never went
back into print.
Heart Like A Wheel after being lost for
almost two years was finally resurrected, but
Stone Poneys III just faded away. The
first two Stone Poneys' CD were deleted
from the EMD catalog 29 December 1997.
Below is the notification to us from EMD about this change. The next
2 documents are
are the pages with Linda's affected titles. The entire list of 450
titles will not be posted here. :)
