Welcome to the 2005 Greatrace website of Dawn Pearson from Kent, Washington and her dad, Jerry Gregg, from Huntsville, Alabama. We plan to participate in this year's event with Jerry as the driver and Dawn doing the navigating. The Greatrace is a timed rally for nearly 100 vintage autos (at least 45 years old) that runs coast-to-coast and lasts for 14 days. The route is different each year and the competition this year begins in Washington, DC on June 25th and concludes in Tacoma, Washington on July 9th. For more details about the Race, the history, the competitors and the race route for this year, go to the Greatrace website at www.greatrace.com. Our car number this year will be 83.

Our plan is to provide a day-by-day report on the progress of the race from our perspective. Just click on the button displaying the destination city to see how we did that particular day. A blank page means we have not arrived there yet (or had to sleep instead of writing the report).

We will be competing in a beautifully restored 1957 Chevrolet Belair 4-door hardtop. It is the original color, Matador Red with Ivory top. Some of you may recall that the marketing slogan for the 1957 Chevy was Sweet Smooth & Sassy, hence the name we have chosen for our team. However, OUR story is (and we are sticking to it) that these three adjectives apply to the car, navigator and driver and it shall remain a mystery as to which applies to whom.

So, come along and enjoy this great adventure with us!
