M101

Spiral Galaxy in Ursa Major

a wide field view


 

M101 is the large face-on spiral galaxy just below center. Also in this field are several other fainter galaxies, the most notable of which is NGC 5474, about 2/3 of the way from M101 towards the left hand edge of this frame.

 

Exposure Data:  Kodak E200 exposed for 75 minutes @ f/7.8 and push processed 2x

Telescope:  TeleVue 85 refractor on a Losmandy G11 mount

Guiding:  Autoguided by an SBIG ST-4 off-axis with a Lumicon NEG
