This blade was inspired by the Sittingbourne seax. The steel for the blade is
made of 4 different billets of forged-welded and folded cable and 1095 using a
sanmai construction. Clay-coated and quenched in water to develop a hamon. The
blade is 9 1/2 inches long and the handle is 5 1/2 inches. The handle is made
of lacquered amboyna and ebony. A carved leather sheath with some Celtic
inspired pattern and the Futark runes were carved for good luck.
This is a close-up of the
steel. The top billet is laminated and the middle is a wavy pattern of my own.
The core steel of the sanmai construction is seen at the bottom along with the
hamon.

A view of the leather carving
and shape of the handle.

Detail of the rich pattern of
the amboyna. The picture does not do it justice. It is more amazing in person.

Blade in sheath.
