2007 SEM SUMMER MOUNTAIN HIKING SERIES

4 HIKES OF INCREASING DIFFICULTY !

The ever-popular Summer Hiking Series will introduce a variety of hikes for both the new AMC member and for existing members who wish to spend more time outside in the mountains.

The series will begin with a free workshop that will give us an  introduction to a variety of topics that relate to hiking – including equipment, clothing, nutrition, accident prevention, etc. In the afternoon, we will have a short introductory hike, which will give participants an opportunity to talk with SEM leaders and ask additional questions about the series.

The Hiking Series will consist of 4 hikes of increasing difficulty. Those completing the entire series will earn a SEM Certificate of Achievement.

  1. Our first Training Hike will be at the Blue Hills Reservation for a nice hike that will exercise our legs and open our minds to the mountains. This hike will include significant elevation gain to help prepare participants for the New Hampshire hikes.

  1. Then we will have our first New Hampshire venture…  up scenic Mount Chocorua, a hike that will give us great views all around. While `only' 3490', this is a challenging climb with views that make it worth the effort.

  1. Then we will hike up Mounts Webster and Jackson. This hike will introduce us to our first 4,000 footer of the series.

  1. Then Liberty-Flume which will offer a challenge in both mind and body, and provide a fitting climax to the series.
