M101
- Object: M101 8th magnitude face-on spiral galaxy
in Ursa Major. The size is 92 thousand lightyears in diameter. Distance
is 23 million lightyears.
- Location: Juniper Sky, Central Oregon; OSP, Central Oregon
- Film: RG200 hypered 3 hours @ 50° C, nitrogen purge
during exposure.
- Exposure: 1x75, 1x60, 1x35 stacked with Picture Window

- Telescope: Takahashi FSQ-106 @ f/5, FS-102 @f/8
- Guiding: ST-4 thru FS-78 @ f/8, and Orion/Vixen 80@ f/11
- Processing: Scanned with Minolta Dimage Scan Dual II;
stacked in PW; levels, curves in PS 6, SGBNR
- Comments: Weather clear in the 20°'s, humid the first
night and dry the second. Seeing about a 5/10.
- I kind of pushed it a little. Not the best in grain or resolution.
But, what the heck, I was using a 4" refractor.
