Moosefest 2004 Pictures - 5

Late night beer at Marco's.

Some things change. Some things stay the same.

Main street Roslyn looks much the same. Except when you look at totem pole park - the open space between Harper's Lumber's two buildings. It takes me a moment but then I realize. The space has been cleared. Jennifer's scary tree is gone. The table is gone. Most of the grass is cut down. Next year at this time, a new building will be here. There may be one across the street too.

The Northwest Improvement Company Store building now houses a furniture store. The small space around the KBHR set is rented by a woodworker. Maurice's office is gone but the KBHR set remains ... for now. The owner thought about dismantling it but has decided to keep it as is for a little while longer.

Across the street in a red, white, and blue building, upstairs there is a gourmet kitchen store called Kitchen Sink.

I did a lot of shopping here. The main street is short but time is long. There is no such thing as a quick errand. I pop in to see some rennovations in Central Sundries, peek through the window of the new furniture store in the building that houses KBHR, pet Marlo Brandy - the resident Lost in Roslyn store cat, catch up on local news with the owner of Cicely's Gift Shop, and empty my wallet.

The liquor store in Central Sundries is moving to a new location. The general store will remain and expand into the space where the liquor store is now.

Looking down main street into Our Town.

My favorite store cat, Miss Marlo Brandy of Lost in Roslyn.

I have a handful of shots from the rest of my trip here.

Marie and her hat will be all the rage in Minnesota.

Kathy "Elton" models the butterfly-shaped, rhinestone-covered shades.

The resort has finished its golf courses. I didn't see much of it, it's pretty tucked back in the woods.

Roslyn's charm stems from its history. Change is inevitable but a lot will stay familiar.
