His duties included

  • selecting investment portfolios for the organization

  • reviewing management and staff performances

  • identifying new services (credit and debit cards, lifetime membership, on-line banking…) offered to the membership

  • proposing new markets

  • selecting new IT infrastructures

Business/Technology Consultant (2 years) -Telemedical Interactive Consultative Services; Austin, Texas

This startup company produced remote sensing audio/video products and services.  The A/V information collected from remote PCs was managed through a central PC database, where it was accessed by medical practitioners in real-time to diagnose patients located hundreds of miles away.  His activities included

  • developing the initial data model, entry forms and data management procedures to collect patient data in AMA-compliant formats.  The data were stored locally during patient interviews, then immediately transmitted to the central database for later reference by the medical practitioners.

Treasurer/Secretary (2 years) - Applied Physics and Mathematics Incorporated; Houston, Texas

This startup company was involved in developing automated equipment to precisely identify the quantity of rare minerals (gold, platinum…) in rock cores samples using a non-invasive, rapid process developed by combining inexpensive PCs with linear accelerator technologies.   Besides his duties as treasurer/secretary, he implemented a large part of the Monte Carlo simulation software used to model the beam interactions with rock cores, ran the simulations and produced reports of the results.

Treasurer/Secretary (2 years) - Medical Physics Applications Incorporated; Houston, Texas

This startup company developed, in collaboration with the University of Michigan Medical Center,  low-cost, automated testing equipment to identify the efficacy of different drug protocols for the control of diabetic neuropathy.  The company identified $20 million of venture capital to move its working prototypes, for which Dr. Brown had developed part of the statistical analysis packages, into commercial development.
