| Ghost Hunters and Paranormal hobbyist applications The intention is to address hobby specific uses for the " magnetics " technical information on this site in order to empower " hobbyists " and " hunters " with very inexpensive new and / or improved tools to help them in their pursuits . FIRST: My shocking disclaimers about Gauss Meters and ghost hunting with them !!!! with-in the arena of Ghost hunting and paranormal hobbyists , the use of AC gauss meters has become widespread . many people own these meters and many more web sites tout their capabilities and uses ! I also agree that " some " ac gauss meters " may " have applications in the Ghost and paranormal fields , BUT the VAST majority of ac gauss meter use has absolutely nothing to do with ghosts at all . the use of these meters can seem mysterious and strange and numbers of people " incorrectly " relate their " mysterious and strange " gauss meter experiences with the " mysterious and strange " world of ghost hunting and improperly link the two together ! to technically astute and skilled electronics people, the vast majority ( 99.9% ) of signals found with a gauss meter are nothing more than common , easily explainable manmade events , nothing at all that could be associated with ghostly activities ! it might be fun to " scare " yourself with the " strangeness " of a gauss meter, but for the serious ghost hunter , it should be realized as just that , FUN ! ( and not taken serious ) a " serious " ghost hunter should take time to learn to use the gauss meter in a technically appropriate manor and know the difference between " manmade " and " ghost like " waves present in their environment ! ( not an easy thing to accomplish ! ) first , here are some reasons why I think this and what some common " incorrect " applications for a gauss meter are ! Ghosts have been around ever since the beginning of man ! people have had ghost experiences for many hundreds , maybe thousands , of years. stories of ghostly movement of metal objects, levitating metal objects , manipulation of locks , and of metal objects being tossed across the room abound in written ghost lore ! Ghosts are NOT something that just began at the beginning of the 20th century ! stories of ghostly movement of metal objects did NOT just start at the beginning of the 20th century as well !!! ghosts are recognized as being of the supernatural and / or paranormal world and not something simply " manmade " ! claiming that ghosts are " manmade " would seem to contradict the very basic nature of ghosts . WELL ......... " ac " waves / power / signals .......... stuff that the " ac gauss meters " are specifically designed to find / detect are nearly always " manmade " ( 99.9% ) ! ac waves are not only a manmade invention , but they are a newly arrived invention ..... only showing up on the planet at the beginning of the 20th century ! before the beginning of the 20th century ( more or less ) , ac waves were mostly known only in theory and didn't generally exist ( especially as they do nowadays ). additionally , ac gauss meters are specially designed to have a response to " ac " ( manmade ) signals / waves / power in the 50hz to 400 hz range ....... this because it is the range where about 95% of ALL manmade signal / power / wave activity occurs ! This means that " ac gauss meters " are designed to intentionally detect " manmade " waves specifically and particularly at a " manmade " range of frequencies of 50hz to 400 hz ! ( manmade " ac " waves happen at other frequencies , like 50 - 90 khz for the sweep in computer monitors , tv horizontal sweep circuits and many more ...... but the VAST majority of " ac " happens in the 50hz - 400 hz region < by far > in comparison ! ) for ghosts to use or be involved with manmade " ac " waves / signals / power ....... they could have taken up this activity " only " since the beginning of the 20th century and ( if you find them " directly " with a gauss meter ) have specifically taken up interaction with 50hz - 400hz manmade frequency waves ! frankly , to my way of thinking , it's pretty far fetched to think that ghosts have suddenly ( at the beginning of the 20th century ) decided to take up interaction with or " giving off " of manmade " ac " wave forms , but ...... I'm not here to pass judgment on this " supposed " 20th century change in ghost activities . what I " can " say about this is that even if ghosts did suddenly decide to start using " ac " manmade waves/ signals / power ....... that these " ghost like " uses / signals would constitute such a small number of the overall VAST atmosphere of manmade ac waves/ signals / power ( the manmade " cloud " of ac waves smothers " everything " in inhabited / metro environments and is fairly pervasive in remote / rural areas ... even out in the desert and mountain areas ! it's difficult to find anywhere that isn't " smothered " by manmade ac waves ) that trying to decide which waves are the ( 99.9 % ) manmade ones and which are the ( .1 % ) unexplained ones is generally beyond the abilities of all but the most experienced electronically trained ghost hunters. the average , novice / experienced ghost hunter simply has no idea how to differentiate between the explainable ( common , manmade ) waves and the unexplained ( potential ghostly ) waves. make NO mistake , plenty of unexplained ...... " ghost like " waves absolutely DO EXIST ....... I'm certainly not saying they don't ....... what I AM SAYING is that they are hard to find and even harder to differentiate, and generally ........ users of ac gauss meters " do not " find ghostly waves with them and wouldn't know the difference if they did ! simply finding something " strange or unknown " by waving a gauss master around IS NOT the same thing as finding something " truely " unexplained , supernatural or ghost like ! .......... not by the farthest reach of anyone's imagination ! OK ....... having said " all that " .............. how , then , should a ghost hunter use a ac gauss meter to find ghosts ??? well ......... since ac manmade waves about " saturate " all the frequencies between 50hz and 400 hz ( the range the gauss meter is made to work at ), and since " unexplained " waves are only about .1% of the possible waves being found ... it is pretty difficult for the ghost hunter to fire up a gauss meter and walk around a room with it , and decide they have found a " ghostly " wave / signal since there is a 99.9% likelihood that it is not an unexplained ( ghostly ? ) signal in the first place . additionally ....... depending upon if you " do or do not " believe " ( and it is just that , a " belief " ..... not yet a proven fact ) that it is likely that ghosts have suddenly taken up using " manmade " 20th century type waves .......... MAYBE a different approach might be more productive for the serious ghost hunter. ( not the person trying to " scare / entertain " themselves with the " strange and mysterious " < but common > waves usually found with a gauss meter ) . I suggest keeping at least " TWO " different ghost like attributes in mind when using gauss meter technology, in the pursuit , for the ghost hunter and paranormal hobbyist !!! sticking with the " known " and provable scientific stuff and setting aside the unknown / unproved / unproveable to a later time. first : ghosts are well documented to have manipulated metal objects as mentioned earlier in this document. much of this documentation having taken place well before the the advent of manmade ac power ( before the turn of the 20th century ) ! hunting for " dc " magnetic waves / signals / power and / or ULF ( ultra low frequency ) waves / signals / power is more logical when related to ghost hunting for many reasons. it is logical that if ghosts use waves / power of any kind , they surely have to use " dc " magnetic energy since it has been around since the birth of the planet ( for one ) , and it is also logical because ghosts are considered to be " natural " ( albeit it, super natural ) in nature and magnetic waves are " natural " earth waves as well ! both ghosts and " magnetic " waves have a natural earth source in common and are NOT manmade ! " dc " magnetic energy can easily manipulate metal objects and is a natural earth phenomena ! this is not to say that ghosts don't use " manmade " ac " waves ..... just that it is logical that they have always used " dc " waves ( if they use any waves at all ) and when looking for ghosts with technical equipment " dc " waves are easier to detect and measure because the " cloud " of manmade " ac " waves doesn't interfere , as much , with finding DC waves. it's easier to detect / measure dc waves ( or rather disturbances in the dc magnetic earth field ) than to pick out unexplained waves from the " mass " of manmade 50hz - 400 hz AC waves, present everywhere ! secondly : there is a large assortment of " unexplained " dc magnetic and ULF ac waves to be found. if there are waves / power / energy associated with ghosts it's FAR more likely related to the " unexplained " waves and NOT the easily explained manmade " ac " ones !!! many of these unexplained DC magnetic waves and ac ULF waves have ghostly qualities and could be easily attributed to ghosts ! some interesting examples of unexplained ac waves http://xoomer.virgilio.it/rromero/ULFgallery1/unexplained.htm http://www.vlf.it/kurt/elf.html http://www.vlf.it/harald/strangerec.htm wavebender http://home.comcast.net/%7Ekaliber/magsite/mmw.html The Gauss master and " dc " magnetic waves detection , recording / documenting and understanding magnetic waves I keep harping on using the Gauss Master because it is the one and only gauss meter available that uses a direct " VCO " ( voltage controlled oscillator ) to indicate signals found. what is this VCO and why is it important ? the Gauss Master VCO circuit does ' three " important things and is the only meter on the market that has " all three " of these important properties ! first : it takes tiny, weak, " ac " voltage signals from the antenna / sensor and changes them into a loud audio signal that humans can hear ! the larger ( stronger ) the signal , the higher pitched the audio signal from the speaker ! ( as do many other gauss meters ) stock Gauss Masters are designed to " work best " between 50hz to 400hz . secondly: the gauss master is a " up converter " . it can detect / sense signals well below the range of human hearing and " up convert " them to a tone in the audio range that humans can hear. the up converted signal strength is directly proportional to the level of the detected signal . weaker signals are lower in tone, stronger signals are higher in tone . some other gauss meters can also up convert , in a manor of speaking ....... as some of them have a beeping tone that goes faster as the signal gets stronger . both methods can be useful. ( please note: to detect and hear tiny electrical signals in the 300 - 3000 range of human hearing , it would only be necessary to use an inexpensive radio shack amplifier , connect a sensor / antenna and a diode < or diode bridge > in series to the " mic input " jack and you can " direct convert " , ie: amplify and hear tiny weak signals in the " audio range ". this is the simple basic foundation of the many earth sounds receivers that are found on the web ! http://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2001/ast19jan_1.htm . BTW: are / could any of the " earth sounds " have paranormal or supernatural sources ??? a serious ghost hunter might want to add this type of equipment to his hunting kit as well !!! ) thirdly : THIS is the most important and most useful of the abilities of the Gauss Master and is ONLY found on the Gauss Master and no other gauss meter that I have seen . that , and these meters are VERY inexpensive to purchase, usually less than $40. since the up converting circuit in the Gauss Master is a proportional " VCO " . in addition to just changing the detected signal to a tone a human can hear , the VCO also imparts the " modulating characteristic " of the " ac " signal detected / sensed as well. I cannot overstate the importance of this feature ! if you hold the stock gauss master near ( held in the 0 - 1 range ) power wiring in your wall ( or wall outlet , an appliance, etc ) , it .......... detects the tiny " ac " 60hz field around the wiring and generates a 1000hz + audio tone. the closer to the wiring you get ( the stronger the detected ac voltage ) , the higher pitched the tone gets. so far, this represents " one " and " two " above ! in addition to " just hearing a tone " , you will notice a characteristic " 60 hz " buzz in the speaker as well. THIS is a highly important thing ....... VERY important. " all " ac signals ( manmade or not ) have a characteristic " modulation " or buzz on them and the Gauss Master imparts this " buzz " to the user in a VERY concise and proportional relationship ! if the detected signal was in a 400hz aircraft power system, then the user would hear a audio tone " WITH " a characteristic 400hz ( much higher pitched buzz than 60 hz ) buzz instead. IF YOU DETECT ANY SIGNAL WITH THE GAUSS MASTER THAT DOES NOT HAVE THIS CHARACTERISTIC " BUZZ ", IT IS NOT A " AC " SIGNAL , IT IS A " DC " MAGNETIC SIGNAL INSTEAD. note than some " ac " detected signals can have a ' weak " ac characteristic or a " buzz " that is VERY low in frequency ( say 1 or 2 or so hz ) and it might be a AC signal and the hunter might not recognize it ! THIS is why we should use either the digital audio recorder and / or the spectrum analyzer software to confirm the nature of the signal found . Remember that the gauss meters are specially designed to detect and measure " AC " types of waves, and what I'm speaking of in this section is using the Gauss Master to detect " DC " magnetic types of waves which it isn't directly designed to do ! IMPORTANT: ....... a gauss meter can only detect DC magnetic ( static , non ac waves ) waves if it's antenna / sensor coil is IN MOTION or if the DC magnetic wave is it's self in motion , and the wave " cuts ' the antenna / sensor coil ! if you turn on a gauss master and lay it on a table , if there is a magnetic wave in motion in the vicinity of the sensor / antenna coil , the gauss master will sound off with a changing pitch audio tone. this audio tone will be a PURE TONE with NO ac modulation component seen / heard on the tone ( heard by your ear or seen on the spectrum analyzer software ). it is possible to put the gauss master in motion and detect / sense magnetic waves as well , but care must be taken to avoid detecting the earth's VERY STRONG magnetic field and blocking out possible " other " detected magnetic signals / waves. when using any of the external antenna / sensor mods on a gauss master ( to gain range and sensitivity ) the antenna / sensor must be held still ( not in motion ) to function without being jammed by the earth's magnetic field. the earth magnetic fields are relatively stationary ( they move around , but nearly imperceptibly so ) , so if you detect / sense ANY magnetic field in motion , my friend " THAT " is an unexplained / ghost like wave ! exactly what you are looking for ! if you intend to use the gauss master in motion ( see how I found ghost like mmws ) , you should keep / use the ( less sensitive ) internal antenna / sensor and move it around VERY slowly. it is VERY easy to discriminate between " ac " and " moving DC magnetic " waves. move a gauss master around a location and detect a wave , if you hold the gauss master motionless and " STILL " hear the wave/ signal , it is a AC magnetic wave. you will almost certainly hear a characteristic AC buzz on it as well ( about 99.9% of the time ). if the wave " disappears " when you hold the gauss master motionless and reappears when you move it again , then it is almost certainly the DC magnetic wave you are looking for. " ac " signals / waves usually have a broad front when found with a gauss master. they can often be found over a wider range of travel of the gauss master when measuring them. " dc " magnetic waves, on the other hand , have a VERY sharp signal characteristic and appear and disappear VERY suddenly when you pass the gauss master through them ! if you think you have found a ( rare ) DC magnetic wave , it sounds like one ( a very pure tone ) and feels like one ( very sharp signal characteristics or a " bleep " of a signal passing through when you hold the gauss master still ) then you should save the signal by recording it as mentioned above and confirm that it is " indeed ' a dc magnetic wave and doesn't have any ULF ac signal modulation on it ! you can " detect " an ac wave from nearby the signal because they radiate through the air ( hence it's broad feeling ) ...... conversely , you must directly contact DC magnetic waves to find them ( hence their apparent " sharp " signal characteristic. ) . try this : you will probably find it helpful to have some practice at hearing the difference between " ac " and " dc " signals / waves ! try this quick and easy test to hear the difference, record the difference and use the spectrum analyzer software to confirm the difference. first , hold a gauss master on the lowest ( most sensitive ) 0 -1 range and hold it near an appliance or wall outlet ...... and hear the tone increase ( get stronger ) and listen for the very noticeable 60hz BUZZ in the speaker , as well. the buzz shows you it is an AC ( manmade ) signal ! then ........ get one of those powerful little magnets that you see many people playing with ( any magnet will work ) and spin it on it's power axis ( any axis will do, but the magnet's powerful axis will give you more range / distance ), near the sensor on a Gauss Master or any gauss meter sensor . notice how " sharp " the signal is ( not broad like the wall signal ) and particularly notice how " pure " the gauss master tone is ..... no " buzz " at all ! notice that when you hold the magnet still .... the sound in the speaker ceases , and when you held the gauss master near the wall power wiring , the tone stayed on even when holding the meter motionless ! when detecting moving DC magnetic waves ....... about the only type of moving magnetic wave anyone is likely to come in contact with ( obviously keeping it away from speakers, headphones , or anything with with magnets ) is an " UNEXPLAINED " ( perhaps ghost like ?? ) wave. because this wave's source is utterly " UNEXPLAINED " it is an excellent candidate for a ghost hunter / paranormal hobbyist's attention. unless you can discover other wise , anyone would be hard pressed to claim this " wave / signal " wasn't related to ghost or paranormal activity ! in the world of AC waves / signals , remember that 99.9% of them are manmade ...... finding the exception is unusual and very difficult to do ! in the world of DC magnetic waves.... quite the opposite is the rule. in DC magnetic waves , only the ( apparently ) static earth's magnetic waves are usually to be found ...... ANYTHING that isn't the earth field is VERY important and worth spending more time with ....... absolutely " anything " you find in motion is excitement personified ! remember too : besides ghosts , magnetic " bursts " ( short dc magnetic " blips "heard with the gauss master ) can also be from scientific and government sources such as EMP weapons, nuclear testing etc ! and finally .......... The Gauss master and " AC " waves signals this section should be of utmost importance to the ghost hunter that carries a gauss master or other type of " ac " gauss meter in his kit ! it's not my intention to contradict or argue with those people that say " I saw the ghost and my gauss meter went off scale !! " or " when investigating the site where three people were killed on the train tracks, I found a very strong creepy signal with my gauss meter " !!! what I do say is that there is such an immense amount of common , manmade AC interference that quite literally smothers ALL places that man inhabits , that it makes more sense to find , isolate and analyze " ghost like " signals that " are not " found in the human trashed 50hz - 400hz frequency range . unless you " clearly " understand the differences between " common manmade " signals and unexplained " ghost like " signals , you " SHOULD NEVER " think that just because you found an ac signal in a creepy place , with your gauss meter , that it has anything AT ALL to do with ghosts or being ghostly . ( right here I know all the vendors will writhe and gasp at my statements as they don't want to lose sales . they depend on the creepy qualities < to the uninitiated > of a gauss meter ..... others will violently react to this information because they " know " that ghosts use 60hz wall power for their own uses ! that 60hz wall power signals " certainly " do represent ghosts or their presence " . if this bothers you in this way , then I apologize and recommend that you pour over my material a LOT ! ) all that and ........... most , untrained ... non technical , people / ghost hunters cannot discern the difference between the 99.9% of manmade signals and the .1% of unexplained AC signals / waves. plenty of " unexplained " and ghost like AC waves / signals are well known .... many of which seem to be of " earth like " sources ...... or have a ghostly " organic " quality about them ! ( is it a ghost or do a type of sea creatures communicate with ULF ac waves ?? ........ ) ( relisted from above ....... some interesting examples of unexplained ac waves http://xoomer.virgilio.it/rromero/ULFgallery1/unexplained.htm http://www.vlf.it/kurt/elf.html http://www.vlf.it/harald/strangerec.htm wavebender http://home.comcast.net/%7Ekaliber/magsite/mmw.html ) Herze the scoop .............. I suggest that the ghost hunter should stick with detecting and sensing signals in the frequency range BELOW 45 hz. besides the " dc " magnetic waves..... add to that the ULF signals / waves in the 0 hz to 45 hz range. it's a direct extension " up " from the " dc " magnetic waves and a wave frequency region RICH with unexplained waves from unknown sources. it's MUCH easier to detect and record waves that are FREE from the trashed range of manmade interference ( 50hz - 400 hz ) that , plus fast moving or erratic " dc " magnetic waves will appear ( with the gauss meters ) to be in the 0 hz to 45 hz ULF range to boot. the two go hand and hand and basically the exact same equipment is suitable for both types of signals ! WHAT .......??? ......... I thought the Gauss meters worked in the 50hz to 400hz range !! yes .. basically that is correct ..... BUT ... this is exactly where the great " proportional " up converting VCO ( only available with a Gauss Master ) Gauss Master's capabilities come into play. since the VCO in the Gauss Master also imparts the " modulation of a detected signal, if that signal is ANYWHERE in the 0hz to 45 hz ( or the 0hz to 1500hz range , for that matter ) , then THAT ULF SIGNAL will be clearly displayed on a home computer or laptop PC when analyzing the found signal / wave with a spectrum analyzer program. I cover that topic and equipment here on my site ! in the case of quite strong detected ULF signals, the low rate of audio signal change...... or " wow ..... wow...... wow " of a 3 hz ULF signal is quite pronounced and QUITE different , in a Gauss Master speaker , from the " 60hz buzz " of the 50hz - 400 hz AC manmade signals that we are excluding from our ghost hunting applications ! to make this work properly, the most desirable setup for the ghost hunter would be as follows ! the ghost hunter / paranormal hobbyist should have a gauss master with ( at the least ) the audio output mod , the power switch mod and ( optionally ) the external antenna mod ! best application : the ghost hunter connects the audio output of his modified gauss master to the sound card input on the laptop computer ! he brings the equipment to the site and runs the spectrum analyzer program while hunting ! with the program set to frequencies below 45 hz ..... then only signals of interest will appear on screen. you should set up the equipment before hand to get a " normalized " look at the background signals on the site before the actual hunting takes place. then the ghost hunter can see any found signals or anomolities present on the computer screen , and combine this information ( or the " lack of " found information ) with all the other sources of information ( ir thermometer, ultra sonic translator , audio recorder , cameras etc ) to evaluate the ghostly event or paranormal experience ! you also should save the session on the HD of the pc for analysis or comparison at a later time as well ! as an alternative ....... lacking a portable laptop pc , the hunter / hobbyist can use a digital audio recorder to record the " up converted " sounds from the Gauss Master and take them home and analyze them with his home computer, running the spectrum analysis program ! with this equipment setup... it is quite easy to find unexplained or abnormal local DC and AC wave / signals if they are present and to use the information to help their ghost finding activities ! the information found here is in the rough , first draft , stage ! as time passes I'll try to refine and expand it where necessary to make it more understandable and easier to apply. if you have any questions about this material please feel free to contact me directly! super sensitive magnetic wave detection and monitoring ! a sample set up of equipment mentioned on this site for dc magnetic wave / ulf ac monitoring .......... not recommended for urban / suburban areas or to be used in motion ....... might be as follows : simple quick and easy magnetic wave checking and monitoring : 1. ferromagnetic rod antenna ( source and information for ferrite rods ) 2. gauss master with external antenna mod the ferromagnetic rod MUST be held completely motionless when monitoring or else the very powerful earth's magnetic field will be detected ( by motion of the sensor rod antenna ) and block out all other wave signals. I usually mount one on a pan - tilt camera tripod with bungie cords ( see picture at bottom of page ) so I can both rotate and tilt the antenna for best results. when held motionless , this equipment will detect VERY weak changes or disturbances in any magnetic field , natural or manmade. l the above equipment combination is suitable for rural or desert like environments. if used anywhere around power lines or populated locations , the interference can render this equipment nearly useless as it will usually be jammed with interfering local , manmade , signals ( power line hash, computer noises, etc. ) . this set -up can still be used in a populated environment but will have impaired abilities. a more suitable set-up for populated environments would be the gauss master with a smaller external antenna or simple the built - in stock gauss master antenna. like with the previous equipment set-up , the smaller external antenna MUST BE HELD STATIONARY or it will detect the earth's magnetic field. a stock gauss master can also be used " as - is " , but it will only " easily " detect " gross " changes in the earth's magnetic field , in the high 1 - 10 milligauss range. it should be held motionless or moved only VERY slowly when using the stock internal antenna to avoid jamming by the earth's magnetic field in the lower setting range of 0 - 1 milligauss sensitivity. example of smaller external antenna, better for populated location applications text and info when using the ferromagnetic rod external antenna ( mentioned , first , above ) , you can get a lot of additional sensitivity and range ( 100s - 1000s of miles ! ) by adding preamplifiers in-between the rod antenna and the gauss master . you can " stack " preamplifiers for super gain and range applications it is a great idea to record and / or document your waves to study at a later time or to show and compare with other people's finds . imagine documenting a find of a ghost magnetic wave signature and posting it on the web for others to see and compare their finds against ! true " signature " comparison can only usually be accomplished by the use of ' Spectrogram ' type software analysis. inexpensive recording of the found waves / disturbances can be accomplished with the use of a small digital pocket recorder ( see above picture ) . you can use the gauss master with the audio output modification and attach the digital voice recorder and record your finds, then take the recorder back to your home and play the recorder into your computer's sound card input and use the built in windows sound recorder to capture the sound into your computer. then you can use one of the spectrogram software packages to analyze the captured wave sound file. you can look for manmade ( ie: 60 hz modulations ) on the wave to determine if it was truly a " magnetic wave form ( pure dc baseline , with NO manmade ac modulations ) or perhaps a ELF - SLF ( manmade or natural ) wave form. a handy , gross , " quick check " of some waves you are finding might be to use the rod antenna ( with or without above mentioned preamps ) into a audio amp to check the detected wave. this is one of the external antennas , preamps if you are using them , into a very inexpensive Radio Shack audio amplifier. with this quick check set-up, you will easily hear RF ULF signals in the 60 - 3000 hz frequency range. try holding this set-up near your wall outlets ( 60 hz signal ) or near your computer monitor to understand what manmade signals / interference might sound like. ( signals BELOW 60hz MUST be " upconverted " with a gauss master for humans to hear them. ) knowing what " common " type manmade signals / interference sounds like, can go a LONG way towards helping you understand when you find something " unusual " or non manmade like a UFO or ALIEN generated wave / signal. this same exact equipment set-up is VERY excellent for detection and monitoring of natural earth sounds , if you might be interested in finding those types of waves as well. besides manmade types of waves , a familiarity with " natural earth waves / sounds " can also be helpful to understand what type of wave you are finding. it is helpful to determine if your captured wave is really a unknown or UFO / ALIEN , a manmade wave or a perhaps a earth sound ( the VAST majority , 99.9%, of found waves are likely going to be manmade ) Mcgreevy recordings Earth Sounds more ...... familiarity of the " waves " shown and described at this site would be very helpful as well ! the ferrite rod sensor / antenna and radio shack amplifier ( shown below ) are also the basic setup for listening to " natural earth sounds " in the 300hz to 1500hz frequency range. the addition of additional " in line " preamplifiers ( as seen in other pictures ) will greatly enhance the range and sensitivity of the earth sounds receiver . ( ferromagnetic rod antenna and Radio Shack amplifier ) this is an example of a portable / mobile ghost / paranormal hunting equipment set-up showing the ferro magnetic rod antenna ( a preamp hanging below the rod antenna ), gauss master up converters and a laptop computer for " on the spot " spectral analysis. it's easy to add these technical equipment and documentation capabilities to your arsenal of ghost / paranormal hobby / hunting pursuits. please email me if you have any technical questions or need help with the material found on this site ! additional possibilities for Ghost hunter equipment selections ........ tho not within the scope of equipment generally found on my site, I thought I'd suggest an additional type of equipment for the ghost hunter ! many ghost hunters carry and use an " audio recorder " as a standard part of their equipment . obviously this recorder is for the " normal " range of human hearing ( but how " normal " is a ghost ? ) ! much of the equipment on my site suggest " up converting " energy / signals from "below " the the normal range of human hearing ( below 300 hz ) ..... but what about voices or other sounds " above " the range of normal human hearing ? the range that " bats " and dogs , dolphins , and many other animals easily hear ! whom can say if " ghosts whispering " might not actually be sounds " above " the normal range of human hearing ? maybe other activities of ghosts or paranormal apparitions make sounds in the ultrasonic ( above human hearing ) range as well ! it certainly seems like it's worth investigating and " serious " equipment for hearing the sounds above the normal human range is very inexpensive and easy to come by ! ultrasonic ghost sounds info http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=ultrasonic+ghost+sounds&btnG=Google+Search equipment called " ultrasonic translators " made by quality companies such as hewlett packard / delcon , model numbers such as .... HP-4916A , HP-4917A , HP- 4918A and the Delcon 117 ( also made by HP ) are commonly available and very inexpensive when found on ebay. ( often under $40 used , costing many hundreds when new ) you can search " ultrasonic translators " or " delcon ultrasonic " to find them on Google or Ebay ! this equipment is easy to connect to a digital or tape audio recorder for documentation and spectrum analysis as mentioned above in my site page texts ( http://home.comcast.net/%7Ekaliber/magsite/specrec.html ) ! ( battery portable hp-4918a with speaker ) and extremely high quality ultrasonic microphone ) ![]() Delcon ( HP ) 117 battery portable that uses ( more desirable ) headphones and the same exotic HP ultrasonic microphone ![]() just a suggestion for enhanced possibilities for your ghost hunting equipment kit ! |
