Sometime in 2005, someone posted these images taken from
from a Japanese Fan
Mag to ZoidsFans. I think the magazine was running some kind of contest
for Blox kit
combinations. I liked the Minotaur in particular, especially since it
reminded me of the Balrok from Lord of the Rings.
Parts
The
Minotaur is made from BZ-006 Shellkarn and BZ-018 Dispellow. Since
there were no directions I had to deduce the construction from the
images above.
Limbs
To me, the
hardest part of this project was figuring out how the arms and legs
were constructed. It took a fair amount of time and some trial and
error but eventually I was able to come up with what I felt was the
correct configuration. The picture at the right shows (clockwise
starting at upper left):
outside left arm
inside right arm
outside right leg
inside left leg.
I found the construction very ingenious, in some ways better than the
Tomy combinations.
Core
Once the limbs
were done, it was time to work on the body core. The picture at the
left shows what I came up with. I may have added one extra blox, but
since over a year has gone by since construction and this writing, I
can't say for certain.
Final
I was very
satisfied with the result. Although very unstable due to the top-heavy
configuration, the Minotaur has great proportions and lots of weapons.
Also very few parts left over from the two kits. Nice!
