“Miss Daisy” an
endearing, gentle ride
“Driving Miss
Daisy,” playing at TheaterWorks in Hartford, is quite a remarkable ride
for not only the main characters, but the audience too.
The plot centers
on the play’s namesake, a white Southern woman by the name of Miss Daisy
Werthan, and her relationship with her black driver. They lived in
Georgia during the civil rights movement in the 1950s and 1960s.

Street band cast a spell in Hartford with Magic tour
HARTFORD, Conn. – Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band
are back. After four years apart, the band had one goal in mind: to rock the
stage in Hartford.
The band’s Oct. 2 performance at the Hartford Civic Center
premiered their new hit album, Magic, and opened their new tour.

I’d never been to a rock concert before, so I
didn’t know what to expect when my parents told me that we were going to see
Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band open their tour.
I was really excited, though, to see Bruce in action, and I
told all my friends about it before the show.
What made it even better was the possibility of an up-close
encounter with my dad’s good friend, guitarist Nils Lofgren, who plays in the E
Street Band.
I hoped for a chance to talk with Nils, and I got it.

Cow parade comes home
Have you herd the moos?
There’s an invasion of
colorful, even psychedelic, cows throughout the center of this mid-sized,
upscale Connecticut town.
People are stampeding
like cattle to see the return of the Cow Parade, an international public art
show on hooves.
For the Cow Parade,
local artists use a variety of materials to transform the nearly life-size
figures of standing, grazing and reclining cows into fab-bull-ous
creations, each with its own personality and style.
