If you are a teen writer, photographer or cartoonist anywhere in the world, you're more than welcome to join Youth Journalism International's growing ranks of talented young people.
Youth Journalism International produces the finest scholastic journalism anywhere -- and has the awards to prove it -- so its standards are high. Many of the pieces written by students in its ranks are published by The Tattoo.
Youth Journalism International, a nonprofit that's in the process of gaining formal IRS recognition as a 501(c)(3) organization, is ready to teach eager beginners as well as helping more experienced journalists hone their craft. Its student writers have gone on to win scholarships, edit college papers and some have even made careers in journalism
While its focus is often on Connecticut, where the organization is based, there are many news stories, reviews and opinion pieces that transcend the region. YJI is eager to find them, too.
Neither YJI nor The Tattoo is interested in poetry or fiction.
If you are in middle or high school and have an interest in the media, there is no better opportunity than Youth Journalism International.
Please e-mail Steve Collins and Jackie Majerus, the organization's founders, if you are interested in joining. Tell them a little about yourself and what you'd like to contribute.
