Booster Club Activities

  • Welcome Packs - Each year we contact area Visitors' Centers and businesses to create Welcome Packs for the players and coaches. We try to include maps, information about restaurants, shopping, banking, coupons or gift certificates for meals, small promotional items such as pens and calendars. The materials are assembled and waiting for the players when they arrive from spring training. We can always use help in requesting materials.
  • Household goods - The players usually arrive with nothing to furnish their apartments. We collect kitchen wares and linens for them. These are often from our own closets and cupboards but can also be from yard sales, Goodwill, or good sales. We need all kinds of things such as plates, cups, glasses, cutlery, pots and pans, skillets, paring knives, spatulas, etc. Hangers and calendars are also very much appreciated.
  • Getaway breakfasts - This is one of the most popular things we do for the players. An hour before the bus departs for each road trip we put out a spread: donuts, cinnamon rolls, hard boiled eggs, ham biscuits, cereal bars, bananas, orange juice, apple juice, etc. Then we stand back and let them tuck in!
  • Pot luck picnic - This is probably the most popular event from the view of the booster club members. The booster club furnishes fried chicken and soft drinks. The members supply vegetables, salads, side dishes, desserts. Members, players, their families, and the front office staff gather after a Sunday afternoon game and have a chance to get to know each other and share good food. You must be a booster club member to attend this event - absolutely no guests are permitted.  See "Calendar" for date of this year's picnic.
  • Silent Auction - The silent auction is held each year on a Saturday in August and is our primary fund raiser. We collect signed balls and bats, memorabilia, books, photos, etc. and the booster club members keep an eye open for good items all year. We always need help to set up, to man the table throughout the game, and to collect money at the end. It gets pretty frantic but it's always fun!  See "Calendar" for date of this year's auction.
  • Bus trip - The booster club has sponsored bus trips to Atlanta, Pittsburgh, and Washington. The trips are very reasonably priced and include two ball games.

This is a good time to renew memberships, sign up new members, and catch baseball fever! The field looks great, Mugsy is full of fun, there are ballpark tours. Check "Calendar" for date of this year's fanfest.
