2008 Player Evaluations

Evaluations allow the coaches to determine the playing ability of each child.  It is not a tryout, so tell the child to relax and have fun.  From these evaluations, the coaches will get together and make up the teams.  Therefore it is important to attend only 1 evaluation date (June 7th, June 11th or June 12th).  On Saturday, June 7th, players between the ages of 10-12 are evaluated at 9:30 (playing until 11) and the 13 and 14 year old players start their evaluation at 11:00 (completing at noon).  On Wednesday (June 11th) and Thursday (June 12th), players between the ages of 10-12 are evaluated at 6:00 (playing until 7:00) and the 13 and 14 year old players start their evaluation at 7:00 (completing at 8:00).  The evaluations will be held at the Milford Christian Academy outdoor courts. 

During the evaluations, players will be assigned a number.  Prior to running a drill, the player will yell out their number to the coaches (who will have lists of all the players with their numbers) and then perform the drill.  There will be very simple drills to be run, such as lay-ups, passing, dribbling and shooting.  After the drills have been completed, the players will be organized to play in short half-court scrimmages.

PLEASE NOTE: The evaluation process is critical to the success of the league.  We must evaluate each player so that we may create even teams in an attempt to make every game close and enjoyable for the kids (as well as parents and coaches).  Therefore, failure to attend either evaluation may jeopardize the players involvement in the league.  Since there will be a waiting list (the league has had waiting lists the last 4 years), we invite those on the waiting list to attend the evaluations as well.  Should a registered player not attend the evaluation, the committee has the right to replace that player with one from the waiting list who did appear at the evaluation.
