Experience
Sharon Jermain has been providing advocate services for the last four years to parents who have children that are receiving special education services from various school systems. Ms. Jermain has successfully negotiated written settlement agreements, obtained appropriate Individualized Education Programs (IEP’s) and appropriate placements for students who were not appropriately placed.
Ms. Jermain has extensive knowledge of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Regulations (CMR) and special education law. She is familiar with the processes involved with Hearings and has filed for due process Hearings. She has attended prehearings, submitted subpoena lists, exhibit books, and filed motions with the hearing officer. To date, Ms. Jermain has successfully negotiated all cases with perspective school systems and has not had to represent the Parents at the formal Hearing.
Ms Jermain is familiar with all disability categories, however, she has a strong background in ADD/ADHD, Epilepsy, Mitochondrial Disorders, Nonverbal Learning Disabilities, Autism and
Asperger’s syndrome.
Ms. Jermain has provided district wide mandated training on how to correctly write an Individualized Education Program as required by MA regulations and special education law. Ms. Jermain provides services in the areas of: review of testing and evaluations, IEP development and review, referral and consultation with independent evaluators, and representation at Team meetings.
