The "affecting
music" of Donizetti's Mary Stuart
"continues to reign," the Washington Post
commented about our June 2005 production. "Debra Lawrence sent
her muscular voice soaring above the full ensemble's volumes ..."

A note from the director
Dear Friends:
Thank you for your support during our second full season at historic
Mount Vernon Place, and thanks, too, to the church for its generous
assistance. Unfortunately, Mount Vernon Place has closed part of
its facilities for redevelopment.
We anticipate a hiatus of several months while we regroup, raise funds for the new season and find new quarters.
OBC hopes to resume presenting Italian bel canto operas in concert,
showcasing the very best in vocal talent from the Washington area,
the nation and the musical world.
Please give us your comments at OperaBelCantoDC netscape.net
. For instance, what operas would you most like to hear when
we resume? Would you like to become more involved with the work
of Opera Bel Canto?
