A Promise Kept
I came across this
article, "A Mile and a Promise," on
TechCentralStation
via Kathy Kinsley at On the Third Hand.
I think it demonstrates in a powerful way the compassionate and forthright
character of George W. Bush. You probably haven't heard about it (I hadn't,
anyway), because the President didn't do what he did as a publicity stunt or
photo opportunity. I think he genuinely cares about people. It's these kinds of
things that set him apart, as a person, from men like Bill Clinton, or yes, John
Kerry, who would only do something like this if they'd get positive publicity
from it. In my view, George W. Bush is a stand-up guy, a real person, doing the
best job that he can in extraordinarily difficult times and circumstances - and
I think he's done a superb job as president dealing with all of the adversity
he's been faced with. I'm looking forward to voting for his re-election in
November.
Go read the whole
thing.
Some Odds and Ends
Yesterday I posted "Policies and Terms of
Use" for my site. Please be sure to read them before commenting on anything
I write or corresponding with me regarding the content on this site. Especially
read it if you intend to quote, excerpt or in any other way make use of anything
I write. Thanks!
I've noticed recently that the Journal page doesn't look quite right in
Mozilla Firefox. I usually use Internet Explorer 6.0 when I browse, but several
of the other browsers are maturing to the point that they're really viable
contenders. Microsoft shouldn't take its current dominance in the browser market
for granted; there are others available that are as good, if not better, than IE
in several respects. Anyway, when I have some time (yeah, when will that be?)
I'll polish up the HTML a bit so it looks better in browsers other than IE. (I
probably won't bother supporting the older Netscape 4.x browsers, though).
I am curious about how my site looks on a Mac. If anyone that uses a Mac to
read my site would drop me a note letting me know, I'd appreciate it.
Funny!
This animation is hilarious - kind of
vulgar in a couple of spots (not so great for pre-teens) - but really funny. By
now, it's been all over the Internet, but it's worth linking to anyway. Note
that because it has been so popular, the site has been down a lot; the servers
just can't handle the load. Keep trying - it's worth it! (I first ran across it
via Asymmetrical Information).
