This is just a quick update to thank all of those that have visited my site
recently. The surge in visitors over the past few days has been amazing - it
hasn't been an Instalanche exactly, but still, it has been gratifying to see so
many visitors. Before the RatherGate Affair, I averaged only from 5
to 10 unique visitors each day - and a fair number of those were me, checking
comments and so on. As of today, the average is well over 100
visitors/day. Today I've had over 350 unique visitors.
The credit for the dramatic upsurge in visitors belongs to a few prominent
bloggers that have been kind enough to link to my site:
- Michelle Malkin. I met Ms.
Malkin briefly at a book signing in my home town. I mentioned that I had a
blog, and she was kind enough to
link to me. She
didn't have to do that, since I'm by no means a major blogger or at all well
known. I'm more-or-less the guy that
Jonathan Klein was
talking about; although, I tend to blog in jeans and a tee shirt rather
than pajamas. So, thank you, Michelle, for the link. Your post was so nice!
- Greg and Mathew W. Sheffield of
RatherBiased.com. They
picked
up the post I wrote about how Richard Katz, the "expert" cited by CBS,
could not have seen the difference between a lower case "l" and a numeral
"1" in 12 point Times New Roman font on a distorted memo. There were other,
more prominent bloggers that noticed the same thing, so again I very much
appreciate the link.
- Donald Sensing. Reverend
Sensing runs one of the very best and most highly rated blogs, and he was,
if I recall correctly, the first major blogger to link to my site on his
blogroll. Being included on his site helped me start to feel a little more
like a legitimate blogger with something to say worth saying. Thanks,
Reverend.
- Dean Esmay. Dean also runs one
of the best blogs - often a little edgy, sometimes controversial, but always
thoughtful and thought-provoking. I was very pleasantly surprised to be
included in his blogroll. Thanks, Dean.
- Jim Miller. Jim's
posts always seem so well-reasoned and thoughtful that I find that I almost
always agree with him. I don't think I've ever read a post of his that was
shrill, over the top, or careless. Jim is obviously carrying around a big
brain, and he uses it. I appreciate being included in his blogroll, even
though I feel like I'm out of my league.
There are many other bloggers that have linked to my site that I should
mention, but I just can't list them all, or I'd be up all night. I am grateful
for everyone that links to or visits my site. I do this just as a hobby (like so
many other bloggers), so I don't ask for anything from it, other than a few
people to drop by and visit now and then. Since I don't really expect much,
recognition and links from other bloggers are gravy and very much appreciated.
So thanks to everyone who visits and links. I hope you enjoy some of what I've
written. Dig back through some of my older posts - I've written about lots of
different stuff. You might find something more interesting to you than political
commentary (but there's plenty of that, for sure). Leave a comment or send me an
email, if you are inspired to do so (but be civil, please!).
