Roscoe
In January of 2005 a co-worker told me about the plight of Roscoe. Roscoe lived with her young neighbors and their 2 children. Roscoe was kept outside in harsh weather conditions and their was suspicion that he was physically abused. My co-worker told me that the neighbors were being evicted from their duplex and wanted to get rid of Roscoe and that they were considering putting Roscoe to sleep. I made arrangements to get Roscoe, but we had some problems because his owners changed their minds. Eventually we were able to get Roscoe out of his bad situation. When we arrived to get Roscoe he looked thinner than I liked, but he was otherwise healthy. He was rambunctious and needed training. We brought Roscoe home and started training him. Roscoe was very responsive to training and very affectionate. We had him vaccinated and neutered and started him on heartworm prevention. I put the word out that Roscoe needed a home and in February of 2005 I was contacted by a young, active, successful couple. They turned out to be perfect for Roscoe. Roscoe's new owners hired a dog walker/trainer to come to their home and walk Roscoe and work on obedience while they were at work. They then took Roscoe to puppy training class where he graduated at the top of his class. Roscoe is in a wonderful home with wonderful owners. I still miss Roscoe, but I know that he is thriving in his new home. They really were a perfect match for each other. I found out later that Roscoe's
previous owners
were busted for selling drugs out of their home and that their duplex
was raided by police and their children were taken away. I'm so glad we
were able to get Roscoe out of their before it was too late. |
