Drama Festival: THE BIG ELEVEN

Written and directed by Stephen LaConte

This original one-act comedy chronicles the chaotic lives of high school juniors. From pressuring parents to crazed counselors, these students must learn to survive and succeed at a high school in which competition reigns and Ivy League schools are the dream. The play takes on subjects such as teenage stress, standardized testing, and the college application process from a satirical perspective. In a world where success is measured in SAT scores and GPAs, "The Big Eleven" asks the question: What is high school really about?

Winner of the 2008 A-B Class Play competition, The Big Eleven is the A-B entry in the Massachusetts High School Drama Guild Festival competition this year. The Festival involves over 100 high schools performing in three rounds of competition: Preliminary Round, Feb. 28; Semi-Final Round, March 14; Final Round, March 26–28.
