Russian Space Museums

Kosmos Pavilion, VNDKh, Moscow

Up to a few years ago, the Kosmos Pavilion in the VNDKh park on the east side of Moscow used to be a large space museum. In the 1990's, after the fall of the Soviet Union the museum was turned into a set of commercial shops. Most of the exhibits are still there, but puched back into corners. Nobody wants to cart them away.

A Vostok rocket marks the front of the Kosmos Pavilion whic is about a mile north of the Mermorial Museum of Cosmonautics. The booster is surrounded by used cars for sale.
Inside the pavilion, shops line the walls. Its not heated inside either.

On this day cars have been removed and are about to be put back in.

A Proton-4 hangs from the ceiling

Spacecraft can be seen in the corners behind a short screen. A Vostok and a picture of Yuri Gagarin dominate the space usually used for used car sales.
