The Escort
a Sonny & Brenda story
Chapter 1
Brenda was shaking, but trying to appear as if she weren't. Her mind was racing all around; she couldn't believe she was in this situation. She tried to concentrate on what the woman seated across the table from her in Kelly's Diner was saying. "I was very glad you called me Brenda. When I approached you here last week, you didn't seem all that interested." "Things change," Brenda replied. The woman smiled, "yes, they do. So, I assume they've changed to the point where you want to pursue what we discussed?" Brenda nodded her head. She couldn't make herself speak the word "yes." Never in her wildest dreams nightmares did she ever think she'd be speaking to a Madame about becoming a hooker. Granted, Sylvia had told her she would be an "escort;" which was a step up from being a hooker. She'd only "date" wealthy, cultured men. And not all over them would expect her to have sex with them. Brenda didn't believe that though.
She thought back to the events that brought her to this place. Her father Harlan, and sister Julia, were killed when their private plane crashed into the Atlantic Ocean. They were flying back from one of their many excursions to Europe; trips they never included Brenda on. Now, she wasn't sure if she was grateful they hadn't, or not. Everyone assumed Harlan had left her a fortune. She'd never forget the day the attorneys showed up at the mansion to inform her that he had incurred massive debts due to some really bad deals. The only way to get Brenda clear of all of it was to sell off all the assets. She was left nearly penniless, and alone. Despondent, she took out the business card of the woman who had approached her at Kelly's a week earlier. Sylvia had seen Brenda sitting alone, eating dinner, and immediately thought she'd be a fantastic addition to her business. Brenda quickly told her she wasn't interested in escorting, but something made her take and keep the woman's card. A week later, she felt she had nowhere else to turn to earn enough money to live on.
Brenda tried not to cry, but the tears filled her eyes none-the-less. Sylvia felt badly for the young woman. "I know this has been very hard for you Brenda. But I promise you, you will be well taken care of and protected. No one will hurt you. And you will make enough money that you won't ever have to worry about supporting yourself again." Brenda took a deep breath and collected herself. "Thank you Sylvia. You're being very nice to me." "Here's a pager," Sylvia said, passing it across the table. "When we have gentlemen for you, you'll get a page telling you so. A bodyguard will pick you up and take you to the date. He will stay nearby the entire evening; wherever you may go." Brenda nodded her head again. Sylvia continued, "here's a cash advance. Go buy yourself some nice new clothes. Something sophisticated, but sexy. We don't want you to look too much older though the fact that you're just eighteen is a real plus." Brenda shuddered with visions of dirty old men pawing at her. Sylvia smiled and stood up. "We'll be in touch!" She walked away, and out the door. Brenda quickly stood as well, and hurried up the stairs to her room. Ruby, the owner of Kelly's Diner, had gladly given her a room there after hearing of Brenda's loss. "You can pay rent when you're able," she told Brenda. Now, Brenda ran into her room, shut the door, and threw herself on the bed. She didn't try to stop it this time, and the sobs racked her body.
Two days later
"Joseph!" Joseph quickly opened the door and hurried inside the penthouse. "Yeah boss?" Sonny Corinthos looked up at him from the couch, where he'd been sitting, nursing a scotch. He'd had a rough week, dealing with fallout over the death of a mob rival a death he ordered. A few of the rival's men were determined to get revenge, and Sonny's men had prepared for war. It turned out to be just one battle; a battle Sonny had won, obviously. But it was an important battle, for it clearly established Sonny as the premiere boss on the Eastern Seaboard, including the Caribbean. "Boss?" Joseph prompted, since Sonny had yet to say anything to him. "Oh, yeah," Sonny snapped back to the present moment; "call that Sylvia. Have her send someone over here tonight." Joseph nodded his head and turned to go back to his post in the hall. Sonny's request was not unusual. While he had no shortage of willing female companions, sometimes he didn't want to deal with the conversation; the dinners out; etc. Frankly sometimes, he just wanted to get laid. And Sylvia always sent him the most classy, beautiful girl she had. She certainly wanted to keep Mr. Corinthos happy, since she operated under his protection, and with his permission. He could shut her down at any time. Sonny stopped Joseph before he walked out the door with; "tell her to send me someone new." Joseph turned back, acknowledged the order, and then left. In the hall, he took out his cell phone and dialed.
