Arctic Zone: The Tournament
When? June 9th, 9am-7pm (rain date June 10th, same times)
Where? Quabbin Regional HS
800 South St.
Barre, MA 01005
Who? Beginning to intermediate high school teams. We are looking for teams with less than three years experience playing.
Why? The Flying Penguins were trying to find a tournament designed for a newer high school ultimate team, and, well, there wasn't one. So we decided to make one ourselves.
How Can I Register? You can register by completing this form and emailing one of the tournament planners - Sean Koerner, Amy Wooley, or Andy Koerner (preferred).

How much? The cost per team is $80. This includes a bunch of bagels, water, and pizza, as well as covers the field paint, first aid stand, etc etc. In addition to provided food, concessions will be available.REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT ARE DUE BY MAY 9TH, 2006.
What time should we show up? Games will begin at 9:30 sharp, and a captains meeting will be held at 9. We recommend showing up no later than 8:45, so that you have ample time to warm up and prepare for the first game. The finals should be over by about 6:30, after which there will be a brief gathering of teams and spirit circle.
How will the tournament be played? The teams will be divided into two pools, with either 3 or 4 teams in each pool. After three games (capped at an hour and a half), the semifinals will be played between the top team from each pool and the runners up from each pool. During the semifinals, the teams which did not qualify will have consolation games. The winner of each semifinal match will then square off in the final game, which should be over by about 6:30.
Are there any special rules? Yes. No foot blocking... sorry. In addition, any coed half-field goal will count for two points.
How many teams is there room for? We have room for up to 8 teams, but will put any teams whose applications come in after all slots are filled onto a waiting list. Be sure to get your registration to us early!
What about liability? By registering for this tournament, you are absolving the Quabbin Ultimate Club (and its affiliates), Quabbin Regional High School (and its affiliates), members of other teams, the staffers of the first aid tent, the Flying Penguins, and any other affiliate of the Arctic Zone tournament of all liability regarding injury, loss of life, or damage to property.
