ABOUT US
Stewart and I met 10 years ago hiking in the redwood forest
of Big Basin State Park, fell in
love, and married 4 years later. We came
together out of a shared sense of values, a mutual desire to contribute to and
improve our community and world, love of the outdoors, music, family, friends, adventure,
and travel. Julie is originally from New
Hampshire, has a large extended family, and moved to California
in 1990. Stewart moved from England
to California and has lived here
for 20 years. Stewart and Julie
regularly travel to New England and England
to visit with our families. Julie works
part time as a nurse practitioner, assisting older individuals and their
families who have serious illness.
Julie’s job allows her flexibility which gives her time to cook
nutritious meals for the family and spend time with Heather. Stewart is a senior manager for a local
computer company
Stewart and I have a keen interest in learning about other
people and cultures and have hiked in Africa and Peru. During those times, we have had the
opportunity to meet the local population, sing and dance with children and
learn about their lives. Julie had the
opportunity to visit South Africa,
learning about how people were making positive changes in their community. Stewart, through his work, travels to Japan,
and lived 3 years in Germany
prior to moving to America.
Before the birth of our daughter, Stewart and I were
volunteers for Inner City Outings, an organization that takes inner city
children on trips into the wilderness and mountains for hiking and camping or
kayaking in the bay. Julie was a
volunteer for the child advocate program, which serves children in the foster
system that need advocacy and assistance.
