SWOTL Scoring Information

NOTE: You must be flying with Damage, Fuel and Ammo to "Normal" or your mission scores will not count!

Points awarded for downing a plane, based on type:
Bf109	15 points	P-47	20 points
Fw190	16 points	P-51D	25 points
Go229	30 points	P-51B	25 points
Me262	25 points	B-17	40 points
Me163	20 points	P-39	20 points
He162	25 points	P-80	30 points
Do335	25 points

If a pilot is a TOP ACE, the point value for the kill is 200%.
If the pilot is an ACE, the point value for the kill is 150%.
If the plane was non-evading (flying in formation), the point value for the kill is 50%. (That means, double the plane value for downing a Top Ace or multiply by 1.5 for an Ace. If, however, the plane is flying in formation, you get only half it's value.)

Ground targets:
Bomb hit	15 points
Rocket hit	15 points
Strafe hit	1 point per each 10 hits
Building destroyed	30 points

Points subtracted:
If a wingman or flight leader are shot down	-10 points
If a plane is escorted in a flight group	-20 points
If your own plane is shot down	-40 points
If you shoot down one of your own planes	-100 points

Bonus points:
Mission completed	75 points
Landing your plane at your home field with Standard Flight Controls	25 points
Landing your plane at your home field with Advanced Flight Controls	50 points

Planes in the same bombing group contribute 20% of their points to all other planes in the group.
Planes that are escorting bombers get 40% of the bomb totals added to their scores.
Planes that are intercepting bombers have 25% of the ground target hit points subtracted for each plane that is successful in bombing the target.

Scoring is not directly affected by the difficulty level of the mission. If you do a tour of duty at "Impossible?" level, your pilot's score will increase faster than at Moderate level. However, this is simply because the computer is throwing more planes at you, and you have to shoot more down in order to complete the mission successfully.

Remember that landing on areas other than on runways can damage your plane, so be careful! However, if you do it close to an airfield it's a little less risky. Then again, a safe landing is always better than a crash, and old pilots say "any landing you can walk away from is a pretty good one."

Flak will not fire on you when your altitude is under 200 ft!

* To win the Purple heart you must complete the mission which puts your total score above 1000 points in a damaged aircraft. This is not as easy as it may sound! Also, once you have passed 1000 points you can no longer win the Purple Heart. However, you can always "hex" it in ! (See the utilities page for some help here.)

Scores are altered based on the following:
Planes flown by a Top Ace	300% (3x) point value
Planes flown by an Ace	200% (2x) point value
For "Non-evading" planes	Only 3 points awarded
For "Damaged" planes	2 points each

Did you know ?
Bf 109 Top Aces have "Pink" or "Bright Red" noses on their aircraft. Aces have "Yellow" noses. All other pilots have "White" noses.

Bonus for landing at your Home Airfield:

Ground Target Scoring:

Based on the following formula for Direct and Near Hits:
(weight on target / 100) + (direct hits x direct hit bonus) + (near hits x near hit bonus)

So, if you drop 500 lbs of bombs from a Bf 110 and get 1 hit and 3 misses:
(500 / 100) + (1 x 10) + (3 x 3)
which equals 5 + 10 + 9, which means you score 24 points

Additional points are scored for:

For other planes in the same flight group	(weight on target / 200)
For planes flying escort for the bombers	(weight on target / 200)
Bombs from other planes on your side	(weight on target / 300)
Each ship sunk	20 points

Points Subtracted For

Each bomber lost while you are flying as escort	-20 points
