Temari is an ancient Japanese fiber art. Originally made and used as toys, these balls have evolved into inspiring works of art. According to the Japanese culture, the gift of temari represents a wish for good luck. Temari are traditionally given on very special occasions. Long ago temari were made from the threads of old kimono scraps. Today temari continues to be made from recycled materials. Cores are commonly made from plastic bags, fabric scraps, or rice hulls.
