1. Concept

Each job has different caps for different skills, when your skill caps for the level the number turns blue.

The different caps are categorized as A-F, with A having the highest cap.
(Levels 61 and higher have some of them divided further.)

Keep in mind that skill that require attacking the enemy will only rise if the enemy is the appropriate level.
Attempting to raise your skill on an enemy that's too far above or below your current skill level will not work.

Note: You can only increase your skill level for your main job
You cannot level up skills that your subjob has and your main job doesnt.

Offensive Skills:

0-200: For every additional level, you gain approximitely 1 attack and 1 accuracy
200+ : each additional level gives aaproximitely 1 attack and 0.8 accuracy
Method of raising: Attack enemy above your current skill level cap and do 1 or more damage to it

Defensive Skills:

Shield: Each additional level increases your chance to block
Method of raising: Sucessfully block an attack with your shield, you must be facing within 60° of the enemy

Parry: Each additional level increases your chance to parry
Method of raising: Parrying an attack by having your weapon drawn and facing within 60° of the enemy

Guard: Same as parry, but requires Hand-to-hand weapon equipped
Magic skills (all kinds):

Offensive magics: Each successive level adds additional magic accuracy
Method of raising: sucessfully land a spell without complete resist

Defensive magics: Increases potentcy of spells
Method of raising: Casting repeadly

Songs, blue magic, ninjutsu: same as matching magic

2. Skill cap formulas

These are the formulas for finding the cap for a specific level rank.
Each level range has their own set of formulas.
Each decimal is rounded down.

The formulas for LV61~70 were derived by sanjutsushi.

Rank Levels (1-50) Levels (51-60) Levels (61-70) Levels (71-75)
A+ ( Level - 1 ) × 3 + 6 ( Level - 50 ) × 5 + 153 ( Level - 60 ) × 4.85 + 203 ( Level - 70 ) × 5        + 251
A- ( Level - 60 ) × 4.10 + 203 ( Level - 70 ) × 5        + 244
B+ ( Level - 1 ) × 2.9 + 5 ( Level - 50 ) × 4.9 + 147 ( Level - 60 ) × 3.70 + 196 ( Level - 70 ) × 3.70? + 233
B ( Level - 60 ) × 3.23 + 196 ( Level - 70 ) × 3.23? + 228
B- ( Level - 60 ) × 2.70 + 196 ( Level - 70 ) × 2.70? + 223
C+ ( Level - 1 ) × 2.8 + 5 ( Level - 50 ) × 4.8 + 142 ( Level - 60 ) × 2.50 + 190 ( Level - 70 ) × 3        + 215
C ( Level - 60 ) × 2.25 + 190 ( Level - 70 ) × 2.25? + 212
C- ( Level - 60 ) × 2.00 + 190 ( Level - 70 ) × 2.00? + 210
D ( Level - 1 ) × 2.7 + 4 ( Level - 50 ) × 4.7 + 136 ( Level - 60 ) × 1.85 + 183 ( Level - 70 ) × 1.85? + 201
E ( Level - 1 ) × 2.5 + 4 ( Level - 50 ) × 4.5 + 126 ( Level - 60 ) × 1.95 + 171 ( Level - 70 ) × 1.95? + 190
F ( Level - 1 ) × 2.3 + 4 ( Level - 50 ) × 4.3 + 116 ( Level - 60 ) × 2.05 + 159 ( Level - 70 ) × 2        + 179

Beyond level 61 the formulas become inaccurate.
This table contains caps that have been confirmed in-game.

5. Weapon skill list

Weaponskills are divided into 6 types

				-- : No special requirements
EX : Requires EX job or subjob
				SP : Requires SP job
Qu : Requires completing associated quest
JS : Job specific weaponskills associated with their matching mythic weapon (Not listed)
RW : Weaponskills associated with each relic weapon (Not listed)

Quested weaponskills can only be used by the jobs that can equip the weapon of trials for that quest.
Example: PUP cannot use Asuran Fists under any condition, even if it was unlocked on MNK and the PUP's Hand-to-hand skill is boosted to 250+

Job specific weaponskills can only be used by the job that unlocked it, completed the quest on that job, and only at 75
If the user delevels to 74 they will lose access to it until they reach 75 again

Each relic weapon has a unique weaponskill associated with it
They can only be used in dynamis with a stage 4 weapon and anywhere with a stage 5 weapon
In either case they require the weapon to be equipped as the primary weapon
