Vera Zorina, glamorous dancing
star of "I Married An Angel" and "The Goldwin Follies," is pictured
above with her husband, George Balanchine, who is also her
ballet-director, after it was revealed today, January 15th, [1939] that
they had secretly wed. They are shown at their New York
home. The marriage was performed in Borough Hall, St. George,
Staten Island, N.Y., December 24, last. She is 22; Balanachine,
35. The revelation of the marriage was a distinct surprise to
those who thought the object of her affections was Douglas Fairbanks,
Jr., who was frequently seen in her company.
